Sure is strange seeing so many new players on the Yankees. Is Gardner the only homegrown starter?

I wouldn't be surpised to see LaStella get a lot of playing time and hit #1 or #2 in the lineup because he takes walks, which Cubs management values. If Baez keeps swinging like a maniac, he's not going to play. I'd set up the rotation this way to give teams a different look each day.

Cubbies are shaping up nicely.

I hope Hicks can beat out Schafer for the starting CF gig, but I like Schafer alot. 27 years old and had his best OBP of his career (.345) with the Twins after they picked him up. 30 SBs in 210 ABs last year makes you wonder what he would do with a full-time gig. Regardless, a nice 4th OF to have.

I think Schafer is best suited as a 4th OF. He can pinch run and be a defensive replacement in LF for Hunter late in games and give players a spell when needed. I don't think what he did last season with us was necessarily a fluke, but I don't expect him to repeat those numbers. I think the signing of Hunter makes them giving Hicks one last chance to stick in the OF a given. If he plays well he will be in CF until Buxton is ready, then can slide over to LF once Torii retires. If he doesn't play well he will either be sent back to AAA and be a career AAAA player or will be traded to another team who wants to take a chance on him. I was a really big fan of Hicks and want him to pan out and stick here long term, but I do think this year will be his last opportunity with us.

That offense could score a ton of runs if Hamilton learns to get on base. You don't see Mesoraco getting moved higher in the lineup?

He could...just seems like Price is a guy that wouldn't move any of those other guys down. Also Bruce/Votto being broken up (Lefty/Lefty) causes the lineup to look different.

Good lineup, decent pitching. Best case scenario is for it to go like last year did for Baltimore. It's tough to wrap my head around Dionner Navarro being a DH after watching him try to hit in Tampa.

Cespedes in the two hole is an interesting thought. The negative is he doesn't take walks. The positive is that hitting in front of Cabrera should mean he gets plenty of fastballs to hit. If I'm the Tigers, I hope Castellanos is able to bat second, with Cespedes batting 6th.

Tigers would be smarter to let Scherzer walk and spend money on their bullpen. That rotation is plenty good enough to win in October. The bullpen, not so much.

I was pleasantly surprised by Navarro this year. The big haul from last years offseason, he did better than I expected. Not sure he is DH material but I guess they could do worse.
