Griffey Fakes update on 2009 UD cards- Question

Hi all , haven't been here in a long time. I have a friend from South Korea who may buy a 2009 Griffey Anniversary auto card. I am very familiar with all the past history of these cards and actually had a Beckett Authenticated fake one. I know about the hologram numbers which were worked out and the sequence etc. In this auction the seller put a piece of paper over the hologram number. WHEN DID THIS START? The card is different from the fake I still own, but is there any reason to cover the number other than a fake card? Any help appreciated. This is the link to the auction Ken Griffey Jr 1989 Upper Deck RARE 20th Anniversary 2009 Buyback Auto COA 76 89 | eBay or the auction # is 380583579651 The seller says he pulled the card himself, lots of feedback thanks Steve Brinn

Michael, I have the same card in Black ink. Must of got it years ago, but don't remember anything special being said about it, or paying that much. Steve B

Thank you Michael, I'll pass your info onto the guy in SK. I thought it looked good too, but didn't know if covering the holo was a trend of late. Haven't followed the card. From what you are saying, it must be just a wierd thing this guy is doing. Still looking for that red special Griffey card /25.

I think Roy did most of the original sequencing (genius), but there have been a few sold with holograms where numbers holograms were take from other cards. But this one is probably ok. Just don't know why the guy covered the #. But if you haven't seen anyone else do it..............

Here is the list I have. The Red numbers are the one that follow the sequence from the known good ones. The other 2 known hologram colums are the ones that have sold that don't follow.

A few of us have sets, its very nice
I read out of the 500 sets, only 200 were autoed, not sure what type of order they go I have 211/500 Looks like another mystery to solve............. if ya got em POST em
I always wonder if that other I had was just a typo
set of 6 autographed Ken Griffey Jr. rookie cards with a CoA from Griffey himself, originally distributed by a company named Preferred Customer Service. PCS intended to distribute 500 sets of six Griffey RCs through non-hobby channels and 200 of the sets were autographed by Griffey. The autographed cards included from 1989 are: Bowman, Donruss, Fleer, Score Traded, Topps Traded, and Donruss The Rookies. Griffey hit each of these with awesome blue sharpie signatures and each one is hand numbered ***/500.
