Slowly working on this set. Have four so far. Trying to do it on the cheap, so getting McGwire and Nomar might be tough thanks to their inflated Beckett values.

Just wanted to say now that I have a 98 PMG in hand, it's by far my favorite set I've seen. Head and shoulders above Crusade. Why didn't anyone tell me?

I saw a relatively inexpensive Chipper on COMC recently.

Let's not get too carried away. They are both very very nice parallels/inserts, but I'm not sure you'll find a lot of agreement that they are "head and shoulders" above Crusades. My personal preference is 1999 Fleer Brilliants 24KT Gold. But we're talking about some of the nicest cards of the 90's, the PMG's definitely are great.

Well, maybe not shoulders. When I got my Crusades, I thought they looked really nice, like a refractor with nice detail and depth. But then I got the '98 PMG and held it in the light. I was sort of mesmerized by the moving rings. It actually excited me, as much as I hate to admit it. I've never seen a card that was so interesting before. And yes, I know I'm getting a little too excited over cheap holograms, but I've yet to see a nicer looking card in person.

Bone sez, "I already told you, sucka."

I dunno, Crusades are pretty awesome. While I do not like the Call to Arms versions, the normal Crusades are tough to beat. 98 PMGs can be pretty amazing depending on what the background picture is. Griffey's background is the Cascades, Edgar and Randy have the Space Needle, but others are far less spectacular. The chipping on PMGs doesn't bother me as much as print lines on a Crusade ACK!
