Hello,
Last fall, I abruptly departed FCB. I'm not here to talk about the past, but things are now in focus to the point where I can make a limited contribution to the board doing what I do best.
I'd like to extend an olive branch by rolling out another episode of one of my more interesting games. I won't overextend myself with the prizes involved, but I do think it's worth entering if you're willing to invest a little bit of time.
On with the show!
------------------------
What is the Alphanumeric Baseball Challenge (ABC)?
ABC is mystery/historical/fantasy baseball game. Contestants assemble their franchise by selecting encrypted alphanumeric codes. Each code corresponds to a unique player, manager, ballpark, season, and/or statistical category.
The franchise owners having the 3 highest combined scores win!
The game will run over the next few weeks. Once this signup thread is closed, I'll explain how to decode your team and how the scoring works.
In order to participate in this game, contestants are required to score their own franchise. Basic math/calculator skills required. Nothing else.
HOW TO ENTER
Players
Enter two codes for each.
The first code must be between A1 and J10 (A1 to A10, B1 to B10, …J1 to J10).
The second code must be between A1 and Z15 (A1 to A15 … Z1 to Z15).
Example:
Starting Pitcher 1: B7, L3
Managers
Enter two codes for each.
The first code must be between A1 and J10 (A1 to A10, B1 to B10, …J1 to J10).
The second code must be a letter between A and G.
Example:
Manager 2: B7, D
Ballparks
Enter one code for each.
The code must be between 1A and 314J (1A to 314A, 1B to 314B, …. 1J to 314J).
Example:
Ballpark 4: 208F
Copy/paste your codes in the template below add it to this thread. Edited entries will be omitted, so be sure to have a complete entry when you submit.
The mystery element of this game is not knowing what your franchise looks like until after you've assembled it. Your franchise will be revealed one step/day at a time.
There will also be a bonus scoring component to the game, in addition to mandatory trades. Don't get too comfortable with your franchise, because up to 3 components may not be with you for long!
Any questions, just ask. If you don't know where I'm going with this...that's the point. If you go along for the ride, I think you'll have some fun.
Good luck,
Chris
