I was thinking how whenever I look at stats I find a couple that make me stop and say "really, that's a surprise."

David Wright has 18 steals and Pujols has 9. Both have stolen some in the past, but impressive numbers at this point, especially for Pujols with all his other stats (#1 in homers, RBI, Runs, SLG etc.)

What stats have surprised you?

Last year Hunter Pence had 40 BB and 124 Ks in 595 ABs

This year he has 33 BB and 40 Ks in 245 ABs. That's some serious improvement in plate discipline.

Hanley Ramirez with a whopping 9 HR's so far, after the fuss about him gaining 20 pounds of muscle in the off season.....

Oakland having more than 50% of its games started by a Rookie pitcher. I wish I had the exact number, becasue I think it is closer to 70%.

Milwaukee's Mitch Stetter has recorded 11 outs in-a-row all by the K; that's over 5 games.

Pablo Sandoval is a point or two away from .340

I am not surprised, but I bet many non-giants fans are.

So if you add those two scarce points he's hitting .340 8 Hr and 35ish RBI

not bad ehh
