Am I the only one that finds this ridiculous for 3 years running now. 5 Starters as of now, none named Ryan Howard. Please. All Star team needs to be decided by either the players themselves or managers.

They're just coming off a long home stretch, it'll all even out. Besides the only reason Howard isn't at the top is 'cuz of King Albert.

The more correct complaining is that Texiera is leading by a large margin, when 3 or 4 of the guys trailing him are having great years.

Don't worry about the fan voting, it's wrong in some way every year.

How is this any different than Boston and New York voting?

Besides the voting is always unbalanced in the very beginning due to a couple teams.

One season Bill Hall and Jason Kendall were the leading vote-getters at their positions b/c the Brew Crew fans went nuts early on voting.

It always balances out at the end and there will always be one or two fan-favorites that don't deserve to start (i.e. Josh Hamilton last year)

I've said it time and time again... if Major league Baseball is going to put so much emphasis (i.e. winner gets home field advantage in the World Series) on the All-Star Game, then fans should have zero say in who makes each team.
Managers, coaches and players should make the decision. Do away with one player from every team having to be on the All-Star teams and put each leagues best 30-32 out there on the field, regardless of which team they play for.
The perfect solution to who gets home field advantage in the World Series is staring Bud Selig in the face. It's called interleague play. But Selig just refuses to notice it.

Howard is doing fine especially considering that only Philly fans are voting for him and that 31 other team's fans are voting
for Pujols, actually it should be a cakewalk, but Howard is still in it. Anyway its just the all star game, reaching the
WS and winning it is really what it is about.

In case you all were wondering, the AS game is for the fans. They vote in who they want to see. If you are basing how
good a player is on how many AS appearances he has then that is weak. The added perk of who has home field during the
WS is just to add a little bit more excitment to it. The NL has done just fine come WS series time, even without home
field. The big names have been getting in over more deserving players for years, that is just the way it is, lets not
water this game down like we have watered down the hall of fame. Utley will go down as one of the greatest 2nd baggers
in history, if he gets in over someone else who is hitting 3 points higher, then so be it. People were complaining decades
ago that Reggie Jackson was getting in every year and we all know what famous record he holds. Just sit down
with your kids, watch the game and have fun!

American League fans will vote for the crappiest players in the NL since the winner decides home field advantage..

Every year the guys that deserve to be there get screwed and the players that are injured get voted in as starters.. That's when the manager picks replacement players and chooses the correct players most of the time..

Hell, Jed Lowrie came in fifth last year in the Alll Star Vote with almost 1,000,000 votes. He appeared in 6 games and in 18 AB he had one hit for a 0.056 Batting average.

Again, what team is bribing the fans to vote for their players with free tickets?

I just need to clarify... you acknowledge that the fans of all 31 teams that aren't the Phillies agree that Pujols is better than Howard. All other teams fans, instead of being homers, are actually voting for the best player. GO RYAN HOWARD!!

please stop, you all missed my point, we want to see our fan favorites in the game, not some guy from the Pirates
or Reds who we don't care about. Like I said this game is for the fans, fans enjoy seeing Ryan Howard at the plate.
In case you are new to the whole thing, the problem for the NL hasn't been fielding, it has been run production
and scoring more than the AL.

You all need to put your stat sheets away, the most popular players will get in most of the time, Ill be the first to
agree Rollins right now, has no right even being in the ball park, but fans love to watch him play. Do you dream of a
team with all the big names on it, or do you dream of a team of guys with the best stats that year?

When I sit down with my boys to watch this, I want to show them who the greats are...Howard, Pujols, Utley....I don't
want to show them a bunch of flash in the pans. Just accept your best players as alts and move on.

thanks
Kevin

Kevin,

Really having a hard time understanding what the bolded means above. Cincy is in 1st place has a huge fan base and are usually considered one of the more baseball minded cities behind St. Louis.

0-2 1K in All Star games. Shouldn't the NL give it to someone who can put the ball in play and get some runs scored?
