Story about MLB authenticators at the game
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcspor ... balls.html

interesting how they told him to never use that triple inscription again. I wonder why they didn't have him inscribe 2nd career strike out on the ball. He could only do that on one ball anyways. I wonder how much stuff Cash kept for himself. I would think they authenticated his first strike out ball. You could see during the game they quickly took the first pitch ball out.

Buckets of dirt, huh? Are we about to see the reemergence of the GU dirt card?

CA.
Posner told him he was not to use the same triple inscription on any other ball, to preserve its uniqueness

Can they really enforce that?

Incredible. Somehow makes cards look much less impressive, thanks for posting.

if this ball went for 20k (im saying if it is ACTUALLY worth 20k), the superfractor should have gone for close to a million. seriously his 2nd strikeout ball? is that a joke? not to mention how easy it is to get balls at games. i have over 100 by now

Clearly your opinion should set the bar for value.

And retarded is not the preferred nomenclature. Developmentally disabled, please.

What would Nolan Ryan's 2nd strikeout ball be worth today?

Not as much as his first, nor as much as his last. Probablly cheaper than his 100'th, 500'th, 1000'th, 2000'th, 3000'th, ect..

But probablly as much as the other 5000+ that are out there. so to hazard a wild guess.... $500?

its his 2nd career strikeout ball. yaaaaay
honestly how many balls did it take him to get the strikout. im assuming this was the final pitch of it, but he could have used 2,3,4,even 5 balls to get the k

He actually has a very valid point here.

The fact that he is annoying does not detract from his point.

Well, at the very least, you can say Strasburg touched your ball for $20K.

Good night, god bless.... :)

Oh, it's a point all right.

But just so I understand: The numbskulls at Topps slap 1/1 on a piece of cardboard that has a baseball player as a topic, and that equalling 20 grand makes sense?

Would be interesting to see what people think the better buy was in a poll. To me I'd much rather have the ball. I would think on card site like this most would want the card. But on game used universe, I'm sure 99% on that board would want the ball over a card.

That's the point. You can't. No one can.

Intrinsically, these items have zero value. That value is constructed by a group of people willing to exchange goods, services, or fiat currency for them.

You think the RC is worth a lot more than the ball. Clearly someone (many, actually) disagree with you. Therein lay the definition of value within this context.

Technically, only 2 people agree that it's worth more, unless you're counting yourself.
