Why did Fernando Salas not get credit for a save tonight? Came in the 8th with a man on second and one out got two ground outs to end the inning then pitched the ninth. The score was 6 to 2 when he entered the 8th. Final score was 6 to 2

Either has to be no more than a 3 run lead when entering the game, OR pitch at least 3 innings and finish the game I believe. They were ahead by 4 when he entered and only pitched 1.2 innings, thus, no save.

Also one more way...

If he would have come in with runners on 1st and 2nd, then gotten the last five outs.

if that were the case, then the tying run would have been on deck, making it a save situation and he would get the save regardless of what his team did the next half inning
