As if we haven't had enough Monty threads already, these are always essential. We've had threads specifically dedicated to Strasburg Mania, Heyward Mania, Stanton Mania, and Trout Mania in the past, now it's Montero Mania time!

BIN's are being hit left and right, but this one is probably the most impressive so far.

Wonder what a *genuine* Contenders auto would fetch today. I sold mine to Wossa a few months ago. ::facepalm::

Speaking of Montero, can someone tell me the BGS Population Report on 9.5's on his Bowman Platinum Regular Refractor Autos? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Just a pure guess, but I would say $500 right now. Another guess, but if he starts off hot similar to Lawrie or Jennings, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see a Contenders go for 4 figures.

I'm curious as well. I've felt for a while that the Contenders would not hold their value over the long run, and I am curious to see if my assessment was accurate. (For those holding the cards, I hope it wasn't, but I imagined that if a player like Montero "blew up" it would be the Chrome's that saw the biggest jumps.)

I sold a damaged one on ebay (dinged corner, fully disclosed in listing) back in Feb for $127.50. I'm sure this is just the start though, after today's performance.

This auction is insane. It would have struggled to get a bid at $9.99 last week. Base cards even when there is an auto in the same set can still yield some strong returns.
