Nice job Bryce. It was reported he got pissed after striking out for the third time, he went into the dugout threw his bat against the wall breaking it and a fragment of the bat hit him in the face causing him to bleed near his eye.

Im sure a ton of kids look up to him and he just needs to get his act together. He's a hot shot 19 year old that has no respect in my opinion. Hopefully he learns to be a little more mature and set a better example for all the kids that watch him and look up to him.

Yeah, no kidding. The guy has NO respect for bats whatsoever.

Unless it said something to piss him off, of course.

I embrace his fire. These kids need to stop getting those participation trophies and stop with the "we're here to have fun" mentality. You don't succeed by sitting down on the bench and saying "aw shucks". You succeed by letting passion run through your veins, sometimes so much so that you chuck a bat at a wall. Bryce is a great role model for those who want to achieve more than just showing up for the day.

Let's be honest; who here hasn't chucked their phone, gaming controller, or tools out of frustration? It would be different if he spit on the umpire or flipped the bird to the pitcher. I'm actually okay with him letting out frustration by cucking a bat.

Glad you found it funny. I for one don't. If you're a professional then act like one. How many kids now are going to think its ok to throw bats when they strike out?

This has to be, what, only the second time in MLB history that a player got mad and threw some equipment in the dugout? I think the only other person, ever, was Carlos Zambrano, and he only hit a water jug.

Totally unacceptable to show that kind of negative emotion. No one else does it, and he's CLEARLY doing it to bring attention to himself...

Who said I found it funny? Actually, I think it's ridiculous. Of you. Talk about an overreaction.

If this was any other player, this thread almost certainly wouldn't exist.

I swear, people look for any excuse they can to bash the guy. Tonight he physically bashed himself, and he's still being villified.

Well seems like everyone is ok with it and I'm standing by myself. I don't think this has anything to do with participation trophies? Idk what tangent you are going off on but ok. And as for this happening every game I don't think I have every seen a player smash a bat of a wall? Yes they throw gloves or tip over Gatorade coolers but that was a bit much. But o well sorry for posting the thread just thought it was extremely immature and a bad way to handle the situation. I've played baseball all throughout high school and one year of college and if you strike out you deal with it like a man, not like a little boy.

And Jaypers if it was any other person I still would have posted a thread. I have nothing against Harper except for the fact that he is immature and comes across like I'm too good for you when he has proven nothing. It's great that everyone is on his nutsack but I don't think he will turn out to be anything amazing.

I agree it's not a huge deal, but if you read that article, he required 10 stitches. So, kind of a wake up call that you can't just go flying off the handle after a few strikeouts (or the handle may come back to cut you :p).

And I think most people would agree that acting like that as a rookie in your first few handful of games is a little over the top.

Hmm, so I guess when Hamels intentionally hit him and he laughed it off later after finding out, that was what?

Ok Hallsgator we get it..none of the examples you provided resulted in the player needing ten stitches and taking himself out of the lineup for the next couple games. The Nationals are already struggling with injuries and Im sure they didn't need Harper being a ******* and getting hurt.

Davey Johnson hates it!

"He probably needs a stitch or two in it, so he'll be down for a couple of days," Johnson said. "That's what baseball players do -- break bats, throw helmets in the runway. It's an easy way to get rid of your frustrations. I hear it a lot."

I think you are delusional to believe there were that many kids watching the game to begin with, let alone that many kids that are that impressionable to mimick his every move. Kids see violence on every channel and in almost every video game they play and they ARE NOT running around killing people. They see players chewing tobacco and they are not running to the store to swipe a can of skoal the next day. They see mature content on TV every day, they see lying politicians, etc. and a hundred other bad habits and they don't instantly mimick them. Give kids some credit

There is absolutely no issue here. He did nothing to show up another player, he didn't show out on the field, show up the umpire or disrespect anybody. Would you have made a thread if Skip Schumaker or Martin Prado did the same thing?

I'm sure it will be on sports center all day. And it might rub off on some kids who knows? Some kid could throw his bat at his little league game tomorrow and say well it's ok Bryce Harper did it...Im just going to stop posting now since its pointless. I guess no one on here gets what I'm saying. No one understands baseball etiquette anymore you just don't do these kind of things when you're a role model for so many. That's the frustrating part. But no one here seems to get that.
