lol Innovation in trading cards. What on earth do people expect. We collect pieces of cardboard with pictures and stats on them. How much possible innovation can there be without destroying the integrity of what a card is. There is no more innovation in cards and expecting it is futile. cardboard+picture+stats=what we collect.

I really think it's funny to accuse leaf of flooding the market with certain players and also say that leaf can't sell its product on the merits but needs the autos to sell it while praising topps or "licensed" companies. Are you kidding me!?!?!? You think Topps maintains a healthy balance!?!? Have you seen the number of Harper,Trout, and others autos and cards!? I think their and other autos have been in almost every product. You don't think Topps doesn't use autos, patches, etc to sell it's products!? I mean not only does topps need autos and patches to sell its products but even needs other gimmicks like wrapper redemptions, golden giveaway cards, scout for a day, etc. and even then the cards do not sell for nearly the cost of the price of a box. Also talk about lack of creativity, not to mention the quality of the cards produced, have you seen the cards Topps is producing? Now I'll be the first to admit that not being able to use logos or team names definitely takes away from the product and not all topps products are awful (although almost always way over priced and full of redemptions), but to constantly attack leaf, say they don't make a quality product with good prices and praise Topps is just ridiculous.

Yeah, and my point being that it has all been done. What innovation are you expecting exactly? What innovation has Topps done that no other unlicensed company is doing. Get a grip.

But unfortunately these cards don't have stats on them..
The Pujols has no mention of any team, city he plays for
A headshot with no team affiliation on a card with what looks like a flag background

Good concept idea .....poor design

Certainly not an issue of innovation. Common sense maybe. But no one has ever accused BG of using much common sense when it comes to his products.

My point is that shallow minds would've said that back in the mid 90's too. There will be more innovation, I promise you.

You really think there hasn't been any innovation? I mean cards are always evolving whether it's the introduction of chrome, bat cards, jersey cards, patches, bat barrels, sweet spot cards, book cards, autos, etc.

All of which has BEEN DONE ALREADY. What, may I ask, can we expect that will knock our socks off in the future?

why has every thread about Leaf became about allstars vs bg?

There have only been 2 such threads. BG & I both make our livings in the industry. We have very different views. We both come to FCB to express our views. I don't hate the man, and I don't think he hates me.

I've made 2000 posts here. Only 1900 of them have been anti-BG (j-k)

It's strictly business, nothing personal :-)

Jealous?

I have no Panini Baseball products in my shop. Hope that eases your pain. And their licensed products in the other 3 sports account for about 15% of my sportscard purchases, 100% of which are licensed products. Classic was still in business the last time I sold an unlicensed card product. You may not like or agree with my opinion BG, but I am consistant.

And that decision will ultimately play a role in your shop's future... Positive or negative... BG

I made that decision in 1993 BG. Do you really think it'll come back to bite me at this point?

Who knows what innovation lies ahead. I'm sure people said the same thing about cards in the 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. Maybe there will be hologram cards? Maybe cards that are made out of a new material? I mean I'm sure someone in the 60's would never have even imagined the cards we have now.

It has already... You are forcing customers who want these products to support other stores or Internet retailers...
If Walmart only sold items it liked, they wouldn't be what they are.. BG

"New material" isn't innovative. It's new material. And making a card a hologram "destroys the integrity" of the trading CARD, as I stated before. Face it, there is basically nowhere for cards to go that hasn't already been done. I'm fine with it. It is what it is. A card is a card and can't be anything more than a card. This innovation you keep speaking of isn't coming. It's all been done.

Ah but that's the thing BG - my customers aren't asking for unlicensed products and most are well-versed on my views on them. I tell them I'd never sell them something I wouldn't buy myself. I don't tell them not to collect products such as yours, only that I don't sell things that I see no value in for them. You can't dispute the fact that unlicensed cards sell for a fraction of what their licensed counterparts do, right?

I'm calling you out as a liar. There is absolutely no possible way that since 1993 not one person has ever asked if you had a product available that wasn't licensed. Just because you don't personally like something doesn't make it irrelevant. I don't believe you for a second.

Well I guess we'll see. If history is any indication though, whether it be cards or any other industry, I feel pretty confident that the future will prove me right.
