I don't think that it is bad to want to be labeled a "supercollector". It denotes that your passion for what you collect is recognized and EVERYONE wants recognition from their peers.

I think the main reason that people like to have the "supercollector" title is to be known for that collection so that if someone finds something that will fit your collection, they contact you first.

Just my 2 cents.

Your two cents, worth every penny. :)

I totally agree with your statement.

Tonsofcommons you are absolutely correct thank you. That's all I'm hoping for is that someone sees my name and remembers me if they happen to run across a Holliday card I may need. That's all I hope for thanks again.

Eddie is exactly right. I'm always stoked when someone contacts me out of the blue 'cause they ran across something I, and only I, might be interested in.

However, to provide another answer... when your boy has his own bobblehead! Just got this in today! I'm wondering why they left off the goatee, though.

Interesting thread. I need to find time to go back and read the first 250 posts. Cool topic IMO.

Well, you have heard my opinion on this, but I will say it again. Labeling the level of your "collectorness" is freaking lame, egotistical, and silly. And a majority of the people with this title is under 20 years old. No reason to pop on a board and say, "I am not going to supercollect ******* bong jangles now"! Who cares, and guess what, there are probably 1,000 people who are ahead of you, so guess what you are not a supercollecting XXXX..... There are some ridiculous player collectors on this board. I respect them all, cause I wish I had the ability to do what they do, their collections should be respected, and I respect them. And very few of them state themselves as a "supercollector".

I think I am comforatable saying I am the Descalso supercollector. I own 2 1/1s, 80% of his Base cards, A game used jersey and Bat, Signed ticket stubs from his MLB Debut and first Mlb start. An autographed baseball. 4 autographed cards. I guess I can call myself the Super Collector if anyone disagrees please tell me.
I was thinking about this thread the other day. Shortly after this thread a member sent me a PM and was being a dick about me using the term supercollector. I don't call myself a supercollector anymore but I am almost certain I own the biggest descalso collection anywhere.
HAHAHAHAH!! What a freaking collection that was. I now own 10 1/1s 98% of his base cards, 2 game used jerseys, 2 game used bats, game used Batting Gloves, Game used cleats, 3 game used locker nameplates, 48 total autographs, tickets from his debut, first start and every HR except 1. I also own a stadium giveaway thing that had Descalso on it (Kids High Sock Sunday Socks).

I honestly think hatred towards me early in my collection from people on blowout and else where saved the collection. It made it fun for a minute hahah. Now its just a collection and its still fun but its more of a chore to add new stuff.

Well I really don't care what anyone says or what they think. If anyone wants to say anything they can go right ahead. I will use any term I possibly can to label my Holliday collection. Whether it be supercollector, super freakin awesome collector it is what it is and yes I am a Holliday collector and if someone doesn't like it guess what?????? Tough s**t......

Calling yourself a supercollector is like bragging about how much disposable income you have.

I used to call myself a supercollector, and even won an award on thebench for it, but I realized how petty it is to brag about a collection. Show it off, sure...call yourself a supercollector, want attention much?

My Canseco collection was dubbed the "Perfection Collection" by the former "Canseco King" (a title given to him) - So I guess I would be a "Perfecter Collector" ? lol

BUT seriously - We all enjoy our collections and are passionate and prideful about what we are accomplishing.

So if we want to have a nickname or a title I don't see a problem with it -

It's like having a personalized plate on a nice car - Icing on the cake!

Proud, expressive, creative... - I'm a glass half full kind of a guy. I personally don't get down on people for expressing their accomplishments with a label and enjoying their collections.

It's just a custom touch or a designation that makes them/us proud - Just like our handles on here and our avatar and signature lines... Where does it end? Why do people care!?

Can't we all just get along? - The bigger people are the ones that accept that someone is proud of their accomplishments and doesn't try to dismiss or belittle their collection.
