Rumors. I don't know how badly the Giants want him back. I know they'll make the $14m/1 year qualifying offer, but I don't know how agressivly they'll pursue anything beyond that. Giants brass has made it sound like they're planning on doing what it takes to have him back next year, but it's not uncommon for the Giants brass to say one thing and do another.

The fact that they declined to trade Lincecum, Pence, or Lopez at the deadline or after they were claimed on wavers makes me think they either really want them back, or they didn't like the offers they were getting and would rather have a draft pick.

But the Mariners wouldn't have to give up a pick since their pick would be in the top 10. I think they have the 7th worse record in baseball while the Giants have the 13th or 14th worst.

According to the rules of draft picks and qualifying offers...

The picks aren't really "transfered" anymore. If a pick is lost, it simply vanishes and everyone else moves up. If a pick is gained, it's added at the end of the 1st round. I'm not sure how they'll determine the order of the supplemental picks though.

If a team has a protected pick, they give up their "next highest pick."

I hope they dont trade Pence. Hes my favorite on the Giants right now. Mainly cuz I followed him when he was with the Astros. But now that I am back in the Bay area and the Astros are in the AL, i'm rooting for the Giants in the NL.

Pence is a FA after this season ends, so there won't be any trading.

I do hope the Giants lock him up though. He's needed here.

anyone else going to any of the last games of the season this weekend? I'm going tonight.

I do 1 game a year, and the one I went to this year was that wretched 1-0 loss vs the Cubs where Nate hit the game winning shot for the Cubs.

Uuuuggggghhhh..

7th inning: Pence on 3rd with 1 out. No runs.
8th inning: bases loaded, no out, Posey, Sandoval, and Pence due up. No runs.
9th inning: bases loaded, 1 out. No runs.

I am wearing my jersey to work today though. Casual Friday and all. Probably my last time wearing it until Spring Training starts up.

I went wednesday. I have the opportunity to go to tonight or tomorrow, but I'm busy with other things. Plus its expensive to park and eat... Definitely cant be going to a lot of games in a row.

I hear you on that. The biggest problem with the Giants this year is that they couldn't cash in the runs when they had the opportunities. our 4/5/6 hitters were inconsistent.

Hunter Pence will be a Giant through 2018. :D

At the Willie Mac Awards presentation, they had other Willie Mac Award winners on the field too, including Andres Torres in a suit. Seemed kinda odd not to have Torres in uniform, since he's still on the team.

Juan Perez has 8 outfield assists in 210 innings this year. That's around an assist every 30 innings. He leads the Giants outfielders in assists too, with Gregor Blanco coming in second with 5 assits (in almost 5 times the innings)

In contrast, Gerrardo Parra leads the NL in outfield assists with 17 (in 1337.1 innings). That's an assist every 78.2 innings.

Of course, some of that may be attributed to the fact that Parra's got a known sniper for an arm in the OF, so no one tries to run on him anymore, while no one knows who Perez is until they're sliding into tags.

Still, dude's got a special arm there.
