Hey foiks. So, I need a little help. I was fishing around the bookstore (as usual). I came across a paperback, albeit a large paperback, you know the oversize ones...anyway, this one was The Downing Street Years by Margaret Thatcher. The book was signed on the title page by Maggie...in blue. The only blue on in this book was the signature and another copy of the same book didn't have the sig so I know it's not a preprint. Anyway...does this 1) look real to you all. it does to me but I'd like second opinions. and 2) do authors regularly sign paperback editions of their work? Let me know what you all think.

Thanks all!

Just saw this now.

To answer your question, yes they do. I was at a signing once (albeit, a sports dude, not an author by trade) and they would only allow for paperbacks to be signed. Just as an example.

Very nice pickup though!

Haven't posted in awhile, but have picked up several nice books online recently:

Got a great deal on this one. This author (and this title, in particular) was one of the keys to me becoming an English major/writer waaaaaayyyy back in high school:

Iris Murdoch wrote some phenomenally good fiction in her career. It is a shame that more people don't know of her work.

This is one of three different Ishmael Reed signed copies I picked up recently. A seriously freaky writer, but a real treasure.

Lastly, here is a John Gregory Dunne signed edition. He was a fine writer, and his book about Las Vegas was absolutely amazing.

Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Great book, great movie as well.

If anyone ever comes across a copy of the original 1975 version of Nelson DeMille's the Quest, I would be very interested. He just rewrote it and put it out again in 2013, but the 1975 version is super hard to find, with probably only a couple hundred sold. I've been searching all over the place and so far have come up empty, any help would be appreciated!!!

Found 9 signed books today at 4 Goodwills and 1 SA. Headed out of town to pick up wifey at airport (waiting at Panera now) and made an afternoon/evening out of it.

BIG score was signed "Terrorist" by John Updike and another book signed by Gore Vidal. Others that I can remember (books in car) are Sidney Sheldon and Dick Morris (both duplicate signatures), Thomas Freidman, head coach of Maryland Women's Hoops Brenda Freese (and her co-author), self help guy Wayne Dyer and a book on Lance Arrmstrong signed by the author (not Lance).

I paid $25 total for all 9.

Heart of the Sea - Nathaniel Philbrick
That Old Cape Magic - Richard Russo (bookplate)
I Shouldn't Even Be Doing This! - Bob Newhart
Lost Moon - Jim Lovell
First Lady From Plains - Rosalynn Carter
An Outdoor Journal - Jimmy Carter (paperback...in rough shape but auto is nice...may become a cut)
Breaking the Surface - Greg Louganis
This Moment on Earth - John & Teresa Kerry

So, I've had some luck. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

Have a great one, folks!

So I can't sleep, and have been reading the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, so I was playing around on his website a bit. If you go to www.leechild.com and go to the FAQ section, there is a FAQ about getting Lee's autograph. It links to an email address, that if you send an email, they are supposed to send an auto'ed bookplate out with their next shipment. I just tried, so we will see what happens, don't know if there are any other Jack Reacher fans out there that might want to try also

My books hits of late are signed autobiographies by Dennis Green (football coach) and Patricia Neal (actress). The Neal book was a gift from Neal to her sister and includes family photos taped to the book.
