Good point.
Felix was a statistical standout that year with ERA and SO's. But it also shows that guys with great stuff don't always pile up the wins.
Seems that power guys can struggle with the wins and losses sometimes (Nolan Ryan for example was a career .526 pitcher). So what is the upside...
John Smoltz-esque
Great stuff, lots of SO's, potential to win the Cy Young or go 13-12 in a given season. Classic power pitcher, has the stuff to be the best, but will he be?
He's been great for my fantasy team.
Hobby wise not sure if the John Smoltz's of the world ever garner much interest...
Personally Albert Belle was one of my favorite players when I was collecting as a kid. I liked his bad attitude and smashing the ball all over the place as part of a very high octane Cleveland Indian team.
With that said I thought it was clearly established that he was a user and that the...
I recently discovered COMC and have found it to be the first serious competitor for my Ebay dollars. Scans of every card front and back be it a .05 or $500. Absolutely can not beat that if you are hunting high grade commons for a set. Plus as mentioned it saves a TON compared to Ebay on...
When will anything come out with this years rookies?

Casual NBA fan looking for Andrew Goudelock cards
Seems crazy that we're half way into the season and there is nothing out there for Kyrie Irving, etc...
Did not see your post earlier in the thread regarding your friend's story.
Certainly give you credit as probably the leading expert on 90's inserts, but you would have to concede that the PSA Pop reports don't indicate any kind of scarcity for this card and that it sells in line with the other...
The Andre Dawson hoarding his '93 Refractors is just some sort of strange baseball card collecting "urban legend".
There is positively nothing to substaniate the story.
Most importantly you will have no problem picking up a 1993 Finest Refractor Dawson.
Jimmy Key and Orel Hershiser are...
I realize the 97-98 Skybox 97-98 Star Rubies are numbered to 50, but how desirable are they?
Do they show up often or are they greatly desired by set builders?
What is a fair price on a common player?
Have a guy I collect who was an NBA journeyman from my alma mater and this card came up on...
1990 - Leaf (Score Runner up)
1991 - Stadium Club (Topps Runner Up)
1992 - Ultra (Bowman Runner Up)
1993 - Upper Deck (Finest Runner Up - can't be mainstream if you were at least paying $18 per pack back in the day)
1994 - Donruss (Upper Deck Runner Up)
1995 - Fleer (Finest Runner Up)
Strictly...
Did the same thing with 1991 Topps after seeing the checklist on junkwaxgems site.
Found some rare A*B* back variations and the Randy Bush no print code I found sold for $17.50 on EBay.
Had fun.
Yea I remember I had set a goal of saving up $35 for a Clark Fleer RC (since I had the other prime cards - Bonilla and Bonds) but some how could never make it that far.
I think primarily because you could get a box of Topps for $17.50 at Revco.
When I first got really interested in baseball...
Go cocks!
This football season really gives me an appreciation for what Ray Tanner has done in Columbia.
No excuse for Spurrier not finding a QB in his 6 years at USC.
Nice write up that explains the issue well.
1990 Topps is an amazingly consistent product especially considering how many of these things were produced, outside of some inking variations, notably Frank Thomas NNOF, there is really nothing that creates a truly different card.
I suppose error...
BIG CAT
1986 Donruss RR RC
Wish this guy would have played his whole career with Atlanta. Imagine El Gato in place of Bream or Brian Hunter or Brian Jordan for that matter.
Go gamecocks! They were playing 1890's style baseball - no HR's but lots of pitching, defense and stolen bases. All hail the double play and infield grounder.
Probably "stem cell" in name only.
I have Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes (since 1997) in '97 stem cell cures were "a few years away", so I have always kept up with these things.
There has been success in lab animals and some limited human testing but essentially the problem is that there is no...
As interesting as this thread is it reminds me why I once quit collecting and haven't bought packs since 96 -
Holy cow there is a ton of product from the 90's! Makes your head spin - maybe thats why people are getting into the 90's inserts now - it took 10+ years to process the tidal wave of...
