When did these get so cheap? 05 BDP Zim Autos

I agree this may be part of it - the player part. Another part of the equation is that the market itself - did the market in 2005 likely overemphasize or distort what future markets would be like? In other words, are we witnessing a market correction? As more and more accurate information...

Panini opens a box of Pinnacle - This saved me some money

I'm not trying to be one. You're strictly talking about a niche in all your posts that relies on MLB logos, you say you rely on logos as well. Further you say that if your niche didn't have MLB logos you wouldn't be in your niche, I'm saying this is particularly common among members of your...

What's the difference between a niche and a manufacturer?

Panini opens a box of Pinnacle - This saved me some money

I've no idea what you're talking about here (or in most of your other posts honestly, I don't think I'm alone LOL). However you just agreed with me here in red. I'm not so sure you understand the difference between niches and manufacturers, understanding this difference will help you...

Is Bryce Harper overrated and just a semi-star and NOT a mega-star as we thought?

Right now in his career he may not be overrated career-wise. Baseball-reference has him being most similar to the following batters at age 19: George Davis (930) * Mel Ott (928) * Al Kaline (906) * Ty Cobb (899) * The careers of each of these legends lasted over 20 seasons a long time ago...

Panini opens a box of Pinnacle - This saved me some money

No, you introduced the idea of a poll which is a commonly used marketing technique necessary for specific niches, ones you're obviously immersed in. A poll is otherwise unimportant in the context of this thread simply because people would still buy cards without logos. Why did you bring up the...

Panini opens a box of Pinnacle - This saved me some money

Interesting you say poll... as a poll is a marketing tool (like a logo). Like logos, marketing is also indispensable to some hobby niches but not all. Naturally, people who are disproportionately affected by MLB logos and marketing are more likely to think (consciously or not) said logos and...

Panini opens a box of Pinnacle - This saved me some money

No, some niches - no matter the manufacturer making them - would exist today on anything resembling a meaningful scale without MLB logos and licensing. However baseball cards would certainly exist and be collected on a meaningful scale if MLB decided not to award logos to any manufacturer.

Bryce Harper only has 38 RBIs...

I just saw he's .172/.270/.276 versus lefties this season - which led him to be benched today against Bumgarner. I had no idea he was having such a hard time against lefties.

IF the Marlins trade Stanton, who would YOUR team have to give up to get him ?

He'll need at least some time to adjust to being in a better, or even normal, situation. The bad part is that having seasons like this, no matter why or for what reasons, won't help his legacy. Plus if he's having injuries now, he'll only have more as he gets older. This is a thread to...

Chris Olds is tweeting that Topps hid Glossy 1/1s in the Panels of Ginter Boxes

Part of the beauty of these cards is that being completely unannounced, these cards were not owed to anyone.

Panini opens a box of Pinnacle - This saved me some money

One aspect/niche of the hobby seemingly exists only because of logos... thus the hoopla from this group who try to apply it to niches beyond their own in order to emphasize its importance.

Chris Olds is tweeting that Topps hid Glossy 1/1s in the Panels of Ginter Boxes

Anyone who gets Ginter understands that some people unknowingly threw cards away only adds to the Ginter intrigue. Nobody got shorted or hurt so it's all good. The fact that the set has some people diving into dumpsters is actually pretty funny.

Anyone who thinks this idea is dumb just doesn't get Ginter.

Chris Olds is tweeting that Topps hid Glossy 1/1s in the Panels of Ginter Boxes

I agree many people don't realize Topps has them by a string, Topps helped create an environment that perpetuates both greed and gluttony. Regular people who both buy and sell contribute to the circus, although ebay sellers without a real stake in the hobby and manufacturers may be more to...

    What happened to Wossa?

LOL this is funny. I suppose that's what happens when one doesn't "sell high" or doesn't need to. He wasn't really a prospector because he generally didn't sell if I recall. He also bought a lot of Topps vault stuff. I did a search on what I thought his ID was ( wossomattau ?) but nothing...
