Cases are <$400. While all the focus is on Heyward and Montero, is it worth it to crack regular BC cases? Seems some decent names, and I don't see how you can beat boxes barely over $30 after the 8% Bing.

Is there enough value to rip a case or two?

Also, what is factory cost on these boxes/cases? I'd really love to know, or if anyone would prefer to PM me the number, I'd appreciate it.

as gilmo said too many dud autos and too many autos period. I don't have a checklist handy but there's something like 22 players in the auto CL. Jackson is the best one at this point. Lars Anderson and Angel Villalona used to be the highlights, but they're both way down obviously.

I'd maybe jump at it for $23-25 per box.

I ripped a case when they were still cheap at around $450 and pulled a Carlos Santana Gold Refractor and after I sold off all the parallels and autographs I made a slight profit. The Santana is what saved me though.

Maybe people think these are the boxes with the Heywards?

Like other have said it's really not a good break. I remember ripping a bunch, and getting 0 rookie parallels in the box was very common. Price is good if you are itching to bust something, but just don't be surprised if your box is a stinker.

Blowout raised the price off all the "prospect" products that they had on the shelf.

2008 Bowman Chrome had so many autos that it thinned everything else out. Parallels became very difficult hits. The Auto checklist mostly sucked. The Base checklist was atrocious, with very few exceptions like Santana and Domonic Brown...but your odds of hitting a nice parallel of them is sky high. I could see buying up some product around $20 a box, but not any more than that.

This. I think the auto checklist is closer to 40 guys than it is 20. There are maybe 10 guys whos chromes are worth anything and your odds of hitting even a refractor of those guys would be like one in 10 boxes. At like $350 a case you could make at least $150 back if the case was really bad.....but the winners will be few and far between. THey will be selling this crap at half of cost for years to come...

Especially with Villalona's fate in the hands of a corrupt court system. That and after killing somebody may not be allowed into the US to even play. I think all but 4 of the guys above made it in. Most are $5 autos at best.

Now that's some perspective heh

Thanks all for saving me $400 :)

I was fortunate on a case I ripped last year, but I was feeling that the odds would be against me, which you guys pointed out. Thanks much!

its the worst bowman chrome release ever

It's what crippled my ability to buy new releases. I was buying 20-30 cases of BC and BDP every release, and when 2008 BC was released, I had a ton of buyers back out of their commitments. I had presold 11 cases at an average of around $700 per case, but even before it was released, case prices dropped to $500 and my commitments ran for cover (I didn't require any deposit). As my cost was $624 per case, there was no way I could buy those cases and lose over $1500 (when shipping and fees were included). It had never been a problem when buyers backed out in the past, because case prices usually went up, and ALWAYS held their value for at least a few weeks. 2008 BC changed all that.

It's what crippled my entire world of ripping and flipping. I haven't busted a Topps product since then. It taught me not to blindly jump into Bowman products and it kicked my butt for being lazy and not doing my research on the checklist.

Those are the only ones I'd be semi happy to happy to get. Maybe I'd pay $20 a box.

That and there are a few guys who are real sleepers who have autos in here too. Don't get me wrong...this isn't a terrible singles product...but you're a sucker for buying cases and doing the dirty work for the singles buyers lol. I don't think I've ever seen a product this watered down. I think they made a million packs of this...no joke.
