Take all these rookie oriented products off the market and you will see a bleak outlook for this hobby. There will be a huge dropoff in interest, casebreaking, consumer cash. This IMO of course will kill this great hobby of ours.

Looks like it will be Bowman vs. Razor for prospects. Can't say I'm happy about this but im not too upset

Bowman may not be able to make "Prospect" cards. From what I was reading, if Topps wants to be the only game in town, they won't be allowed to extend past the 25/40 man roster.

I think that would be the nail in the coffin in terms of getting rookie cards that are worth anything.

No wonder BG was so ecstatic. He potentially could be the only option for prospect cards.

if you call minor league cards prospects then yeah he should be happy, but probably a large percentage of people don't prospect minor league cards.

They certainly aren't veteran cards.

No that would actually make a rookie card what it was, a rookie card of a player who actually plays in the majors.

If major manufactures have to produce cards of players who are going to be on the team will give us a chance of having base sets that are actually worth something. Would 89 Upper Deck or 90 Leaf been as good of products if Griffey and Thomas had cards made by Fleer two years earlier?

Oh, goody. We get to have the "rookie card" argument for the 10,000th time.

The way I see it is if they are going to go with only one card manufacture in baseball it ought to have the ability to include prospects or ,if not, then they should do away with MILB releases and licenses.I don't see why they would force out prospect cards and replace the ability of getting them through bowman with only MILB type cards. It would kill the prospect market. What would eventually happen is nobody would fully collect them until they were released by a MLB card producer.I like the Tristar and razor feel but not if I was forced into having it completely or nothing at all.I'd probably buy only a few cards here or there and never bust a pack. And it would kill the values.I really don't think being the only game in town will help save them. Not when the product is so subpar to the big boys in town.

As for Tristar...while I admit Razor has had some nice stuff, Tristar does not lag behind them at all. They are one in the same as far as quality and looks.I do like the rookie letters(they are about the only real difference seperating the two companies) but they are not all that big of a deal to me and I am sure in the reality of the whole market...they will be more of an afterthought in the long run than a major player.

The thing that I can still not figure out for the life of me is why the MLBPA is doing this.More cards equals more money.I do agree it was a good idea to cut down on the number of products to a degree but jeez!I cannot see them making more money this way at all.I really can't.
