Looks as though Brian may have been right - he hinted that Panini would discontinue the manufacturing of baseball products.

this 2 me is panini trying to get on the good side of mlb so they can get back in the game as a licensed product. And RAZOR will eventually be the only "minor league" product. btw did letterman sell out? Razor is nice for minor league card and for quick flipping. Contenders might be 1 and done, but it could be back.

Any way you slice it, prospect donruss cards are out.

was great to have an option while it lasted. oh well, chrome is an even bigger king. probably mean 07 & 08 dlp products will spike in case price. 07 deee first 08 contenders/08 deee 2nd/3rd or vice versa.

Let's see what kind of rules the MLB puts on topps first. Prospect cards in general may be on the way out.

Even I think that would suck.

I would definetly spend less money on cards if that happened.

If there is a change in prospect cards we will see a price increase in older wax. 07 draft, 08 draft and even some older stuff

We knew a few years back that this new licensing agreement would be a huge potential turning point.

The three year deal with MLBP between Topps and Upper Deck stirred some controversy, and we had/have every reason to expect similar controversy with the new agreement.

Will it be a two company license (Topps and Panini)?
A three company license (doubtful, but Topps, Panini and Upper Deck)?
Will it be a one company exclusive license (Topps)?
Will there be a mixed license allowing one company to do current players and prospects, and another to do retired players only?
Who gets the MiLB license?
Prospect cards versus inserts?

We'll see.

One thing for certain, Razor will be the only one doing unlicensed products...unless Upper Deck want to jump in after losing a license.

What about Tristar and Just Minors?

The deal Scott Jordan made with Brian was for only one year I believe.

Tristar has done nothing to strengthen the Minor League Baseball brand...so I would have to believe that MLBP will let someone at it if they want it. Just Minors seemed to have had larger market penetration than Tristar...and that's not saying much.

The MiLB license will be an interesting one, especially depending on the company that gets it...although it is still a niche market. A small, small market.

However, if MLBP drops non-roster players from inclusion in any and every MLB and/or MLBPA licensed products...MiLB products may see a rise in prospector purchases. But it clearly has to be done correctly for that to happen.

So having the license has really not helped Tristar?
I don't believe that Tristar has helped the Minor League Baseball brand and when we're talking about licensing, MLBP doesn't care what having their license is doing for you...they want to know what it doing for themselves.

In regards to Tristar, sure, they've probably made some money.
