Pretty sure that's the case.clarkfan said:Are you sure you aren't talking about the 1989 ones Pinbreaker? Those are ones, although somewhat difficult to locate, that are out there in the open market, even a few on ebay. I hadn't heard of anyone pulling a 1990 one.

They were in the green factory box.

I really didn't. I've told this story plenty of times, I'll give you the condensed version.
I go out "picking" with my Pops on the weekends, went to an Estate that had vintage Minnesota Vikings memorabilia, didn't pick anything up. There were a few garage sales going on in this same neighborhood, I went to the first two and there was absolutely nothing to my liking so I went back to the car while my dad walked a few houses down to the last garage sale. He waved me over when he seen a pull up bar I've been looking for, and I got out and walked over. I bought the pull up for $5.
There was a small box of 1990 Upper Deck SETS and other memorabilia under the table. I ask the seller "how much?" for the box, he gives me a price, and I counter saying "the cards are overproduced, I'll give you $XX" and he agreed. I give him the cash and he says "too bad the cards weren't one year earlier or I would of kept them." Meaning Griffey's rookie. I went home to check them out and noticed the 20th Anniversary hologram, and began researching, though research I ended up at Brad's blog, signed up at Beckett to ask for help ID'ing, packed them up for my move, and finally signed up here.
That's how it went down, and yes I did say "sets". I posted the picture above for a reason to see if anyone picked up on it.
DaClyde said:So judging from the box, I guess Upper Deck just cracked an original 1990 factory set, ran them through the Genuine 20th Anniversary Stampinator (patent pending) and put them back in the box afterwards.
In any case, when you're planning to unload them, I'm interested in several cards.
