Great input Chuck.

I'm open to selling a whole set. It would have to be 'the right buyer' though.
Keep pushing me smartass...

When you're a 'smartass' you don't have to push, a ******* does all the work for you.

At least that's what I was told.

Don't catch feelings though, it's a BASEBALL CARD forum.......and ummmm the internet.

I'm only a screen name and keystrokes by the time the moon comes up.

(I"ll play along tho, I'll cut a 1980's WWF Hulk Hogan promo on your ass if I have to, BROTHER!)

I'm just going to say it:

When something comes along that sounds too good to be true, it usually is. This is at best a backdoored product and we'll magically see more pop up after crazy profit is made from this sell. This is at worst an aftermarket scam.

It just doesn't add up. If you had *two* sets, why not just say that from the beginning? Why pretend you were going to keep the *one* set you bought in your personal collection? Why is it unclear if you got this at a garage sale or a swap meet?

So much doesn't add up and I don't want to see a bunch of guys that I've grown to be friends with walk away burned.

Maybe it is legit and if there was a Darryl Kile in the 1990 UD set, I might be too busy drooling to think clearly about it. So if it is legit, I apologize in advance. But you have to see that this looks very much like a scam.

If it was a scam, why wouldn't I be on EVERY card trading forum trying to push these? I'm only a regular on this forum, hell I'm only involved in THIS thread. I don't post on Beckett anymore and I made one mention at BO of the Nolan Ryan eBay auction in the proper section.

To point it out yet again. I signed up on Beckett asking for information. I didn't go on there bragging and shooting off all crazy like I found the holy grail. And, nowhere am I claiming these are 1/1's.

I didn't make this thread, a collector pointed it out to me and I came to clear up some confusion. Did I come here asking WHO WANTS TO BUY?!?!?!? NO!!!

COLLECTORS demanded them, so I made my move.

There's already several collectors who have these Buybacks in their hands.

Did they come here saying "Thanks." or "you burned me!" ?

Scroll up and find your answer.

I give my vote for LEGIT. Thanks for the 2 cards EXP. They are spot on to what I would expect from authentic and I would guess these would be pretty hard to fake.

When the story first broke, I was skeptical, but I think he just got lucky and stumbled upon a set (or sets) that was leaked from the company. Backdoored cards are very much a part of the hobby and are often some of the most valuable (1998 Donruss Crusade Series 2 #131 and up, 1998 Totally Certified Gold, 1998 Select, all of the *** Executive Samples, the list is pretty extensive).

If I got duped, I can tell you, as someone who has them in hand, I'M HAPPY ABOUT IT!!

I don't see the humor? :?
Could you please elaborate? I mean, he bought 2 entire sets. Why would it be so crazy for me to buy 1?

Setting up my sports room right now.

Oh, the gems you can find at Kobey's swap meet. Ever watch Storage Wars? Some of those chumps are there weekly. - http://www.kobeyswap.com

I want to make it 100% CLEAR! That I got my "backdoored" Petco Park banners from the swap meet.....I repeat, swap meet. Santee swap meet actually, not Kobey's. Don't get it confused with "garage sale", even though it's in text.

EDIT: The Rocky Marciano signed print was from an Estate Sale is Clairemont, just want to clarify.

This is pretty much exactly what I would have posted. I am VERY happy with mine, have them in hand, and paid what I was willing to. How many come out after the fact has nothing to do with exp619. He stated what he had, and many of us made offers to him. Knowing what I paid for mine, and what he must be getting for other players, there is not a person here that wouldn't have sold. You'd be a moron not to. He still has another set that he can keep for his collection, or part it out if he desires. No matter how he got them, I'm glad I was able to purchase the two I have.

I agree with clarkfan & MMM. The cards look good to me. Thanks to the guy who brought you over here and thanks for making them available to us player collectors. Now if I could only locate the 2009 UD 89 buyback.

I already posted, but will do so again. The card looks totally legit to me. I compared it to the 89 Buyback I have and it looks good. Our deal was smooth. He shipped very quick and packaged the card well. Absolutely no complaints from me.

So, here's the mid-game recap for any of those of you just joining us:

If you had *two* sets, why not just say that from the beginning?

There was a small box of 1990 Upper Deck SETS. "yes I did say "sets".

*I never said "two" or 2,000 for the matter.

And, nowhere am I claiming these are 1/1's.

* I do claim they are rare tho.

Knowing what I paid for mine, and what he must be getting for other players, there is not a person here that wouldn't have sold. You'd be a moron not to

COLLECTORS demanded them, so I made my move.

....thanks for making them available to us player collectors.

Our deal was smooth. He shipped very quick and packaged the card well. Absolutely no complaints from me.

No problem. Thank all of you for smooth transactions. Glad I could add a nice piece to your PC's.

Let me start off by saying that given the opportunity, I would have purchased every McGwire he had. Still would.

Now here is the issue I have with the cards. Why would UD put 20th Anniversary on a 1990 set. The 1989's packed out make sense. I just hope someone didn't buy the equipment and foil and stamp the sets themselves, meaning they could do it again (over and over). The only saving grace is that a whole set was stamped, not just star players which would be worth more, and it would have been just as easy to stamp a 1989 set.

Just my 1.9999 cents worth.
