Sox only sending 12 million back to LA while dumping 275 million.
Amazing the Dodgers would do this. Red Sox just got a get of jail free card.
No one in Boston liked this group of players.

He is back from TJ surgery, made his season debut earlier this week.

Understood, but the fact is, people are high on him and not speaking about the risk involved with him. There is still a risk right? I am just trying to figure out why there wasn't ANY talk at all about it. That's all man.

Red Sox fan here and I think this trade is beyond amazing.
I'm still literally in shock that the Dodgers took all that money.

Would I have liked them to keep Gonzalez? Yes. His contract was actually reasonable when you compare it to other deals the past couple years.....But losing him was a necessary evil to get rid of Crawford and Beckett.

I'm not sure if non-Red Sox fans realize how unlikeable this team as currently constructed was and how they had virtually no room to make any moves going forward. The alternative to this move would have been bringing everybody back and hoping this XXXXty rotation and guys like Crawford would turn it around.
That's not a risk I'd be willing to take when a deal like this is out there, because realistically when would you have the chance again?

This team was falling apart and two days ago they had no real recourse to do anything about it. They made big signings that didn't pan out and didn't fit....But in one swoop they have hit the reset button and now have the flexibility to move forward and rebuild however they please......That to me is a great thing. If they brought this current team back there was a chance everything could align and they would be a contender.....but I think odds were against that, and again it's not a chance I'd take knowing how much money was owed moving forward.
The fact they only had to kick in 12m and are getting two legitimate pitching prospects only makes this more unbelivable.

There's always a risk with a player coming back from a major surgery.. but for whatever reason many pitchers come back even stronger after TJ than they were before they had it. It's a super power rebuild!!!

It's a little of both I think, more on the salary dump side.

But this was getting back to the days of 25 guys, 25 cabs.

Hopefully that changes in a hurry. The Joe Maddon apprach in TB is one that I am very much in favor of.

They look happy to be leaving.
Was about to post the same, haha!

It is good that all players are traded together so they will feel a bit more comfortable heading to a new team. I wish them the best of luck.

With that said, JP or anyone else....how does the Sox farm system stack up now as compared to where they were before the season started?

Good for them... Beckett is a clubhouse cancer and his stuff has been getting worse and worse the last few years. they are happy to be headed to a contender but I still think the Red Sox made out like bandits in this deal dumping alot of dead salary.

isn't it ironic that Crawford killed Boston when he was in Tampa.. and then killed the Red Sox as a Red Sock?? Glad to see he'll be on the other coast in the other league because I wouldn't doubt he comes back strong.

wow...they blew up that team good. I take it Loney will be dealt, never lived up to potential. On a side note, my first Gold Refractor ever was a Loney out of 2002 BCDraft. Sold it right away for $100
