7-5 w/ a 3.55 ERA on the road for Sabathia.
8-2 w/ a 2.23 ERA on the road for Buchholz.
I'll take the AL ERA leader. Clayton Maximus Buchholz.

Yes, I agree I am a bit biased....but he is the friggen AL ERA leader!!!

A few of those pitchers deserve it over CC. Take away the W/L and then tell me who wins it....be honest.

even if you leave the W/L he's the same as Price.

I'm just sad Lester fell apart. Wasn't that long ago he would've been in this poll.

Thank'd!

I still believe it is between Buchholz and Sabathia, with buchholz with a slight lead at the moment.

I feel it will come down to the last few weeks for this decision to be final.

I never said Price deserved it over CC, lol.

i was merely saying Buchholz has a better claim than Price.

More non-Sox fans were saying Price than Buchholz.
Give me any of these guys over Price

Clay Buchholz- 15-5, 2.26 ERA/only 96 Ks
Felix Hernandez- 2.51 ERA, 183 Ks/9 wins
Trevor Cahill-2.54 ERA, 0.99 WHIP/86 Ks
Cliff Lee- 11 BBs, 0.98 WHIP, 3.09 ERA/10 wins

(CC and Price are tied at the moment, give them one more start or two and I'll let ya know)

Close between Buchholz and Price but I will take the guy with the lowest ERA in the AL.

Again, how is it close between these two? Please explain to me how Price is having a better year than CC.

If you feel CC and Price are almost identical...then Price should not be left out of the discussion.

All Hail the King

Bucholz is only on pace to throw 180 innings this year. Not enough for me considering King Felix is on pace for about 260 innings and has better peripheral numbers. Runner up consideration to Lee and CC.

I will tell you now, unless he can get about 5-6 more wins he won't be winning the CY. He is having an amazing year, but I can not see writers giving the award to a guy who is one game under .500

The question was who is my AL Cy Young, not who the writers will pick. Wins by a pitcher are overrated.

 I would agree if Cliff Lee had not had three consecutive poor starts.

Sabathia already has 187.2 Innings. 30 More than Price and and 48.1 more than Buchholz.

Sabathia has eight more starts left. He could get 22 wins. Considering he dominates late in the season, I'd say he has a chance to get even better.

Just making my case for CC-

Since the Start of June he is 13-2

In that same span he has 16 consecutive quality starts, which is third longest streak by any AL pitcher this millennium. Others being Santana (21) in 2004 and Felix Hernandez (19) last year.

During the same span he had gotten at least 1 out in the 7th inning in 15 consecutive starts, which was snapped today due to a long rain delay. It was the longest streak by an AL pitcher since Jack Morris in 1983, who did that in (19) consecutive starts.

My case against would be that Buchholz ERA is 25% lower than Sabathia's. More than makes up for the two less wins IMO.
