Super boring game.
Rivera should have come out in the bottom of the 9th inning, whether it's 3-0 or 18-0. Just plain stupid to come out in the 8th inning as Rivera made his living as a CLOSER, not a setup man. In the bottom 9th, Rivera would get the standing O's and cheers still and it would be a save situation or he would close out the game in a non-save situation depending on if the AL cashes in right now in the top9th.
pitch the 9th inning and be in line to earn the win - it's not the only time the Yanks ran him out there in a tie game in the 9th. considering the NL could have tied or won things in the bot8th scenario, my thought has changed to more like 2 outs 8th inning so he could get the four-out save (again, not new territory for him, he could have done it in about 20 pitches) or have his one out appearance to close out the AL's pitching line if the NL did take the lead in bot8th and saved it in the 9th.And if the NL scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th off Nathan and the AL doesn't score in the top of the 9th, what would you have said?
Im sorry but how in the hell did Rivera deserve to be MVP? Team was already up a few runs. Its not like he came into a tough situation and got out of the inning. He wasnt even the best pitcher on his team last night. So stupid just like the voting process of the whole game.
Call it a lifetime achievement award...
And if the NL scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th off Nathan and the AL doesn't score in the top of the 9th, what would you have said?

He had a team full of All-Stars, he honestly didn't have faith that one of the remaining pitchers would be able to hold a 3 run lead? There wouldn't BE a 9th inning b/c the NL would have won the game. Do you see what Leyland did? He GUARANTEED Mo would be in the game. He was worried the NL would come back off another reliever and be winning after the top of the 9th, effectively ending the game and giving Rivera NO SHOT to pitch.
I'm sorry but I'm not sure how you aren't understanding this.
Rivera didnt seem to have any problem with it, so who cares?
