Not saying to ignore the Phillies stuff, but don't give the NCAA a pass. They have an idiotic rule that they should have fixed years ago. Part of this is a problem of NCAA not focusing on college baseball. In football and basketball, you have to declare for draft. So if you have an agent in football/basketball you're no longer eligible, which is fine, because you have already chosen to go pro. In baseball, no one chooses to enter the draft. So logically, players should be able to have agent, and still opt to go/stay at school. Court ruled NCAA's rules restricting agents for players are illegal, but NCAA paid $750K to make it go away.

The vaunted NCAA's ruling:

BREAKING: Oregon State's Ben Wetzler will be suspended for 20 percent of the season, which includes time he's already missed.

I'm sure that will just make pro-bound college athletes just chomp at the bits to have their names called by the Phillies.

He broke NCAA rules... meh. It's a stupid rule, and this is a great example of why. Agents can serve as protection against bad negotiations.

Glad to hear Wetzler's suspension isn't too bad.

And the Phillies' GM did go to Stanford...
