If you sell something for $1,000, you seriously don't think an extra $100 tacked on in the end will affect your sale???

When you go to a store and buy something do you factor in the tax when deciding to buy it?

Craig

If it something I'm buying on eBay from a regular person, YES. I'm not going to argue the validity of sales tax in a store with you. This is a different matter.

No it isn't. A sale is a sale. Under the law all sales are required to have sales/use taxes paid.

I gotta agree with sportscardtheory on this one.....if I see an auction where I have to pay sales tax, I move on and find the same item listed where I dont have to pay sales tax......plain and simple it costs me less so I will buy that one.

I truly believe that everyone buying on ebay would say the same thing....so yes, having to charge a sales tax will hurt you compared to someone that isnt.

This thread is incredible.

The OP was contacted because his state wants him to pay taxes on the items he is purchasing, right?

What have you been selling besides baseball stuff?

Or is it all baseball stuff and it's high net items and profits that you are generating from your ebay ID?
All I have been selling is cards. Like 1 or 2 high dollar ($150-$250) items but mainly low ($4-$7) and mid ($17-$25) range items. But most of the stuff is on the low end.. At most a total of $1,400 over the last 2-3 months.

Yes, thank you, we all know that......it leads hand in hand with taxes and selling as well....not sure why you are facepalming yourself unless maybe you have a brain freeze...

If its about what/how much I am buying then why would they be asking about a sellers permit??
