If the Nationals got him, jeez they'd have some nice arms in their system.

Re: Aroldis Chapman Reportedly Signs a $30M Deal....

The Marlins reportedly bowed out of negotiations a few days ago. Plus, why would this new report mention leaving from Ft. Lauderdale only to travel a few miles south to sign with them?

Believe it or not, the Nats have been mentioned in connection with him before, so it's not far-fetched.

Looks like its the Reds.

Jeff Passan's latest Tweets:

Narrowed it down: It's an NL Central team. Cincinnati making more and more sense. Reds "going after him like crazy," team source said.

Then:

Non-stop Delta flight left FLL for Cincinnati at 9:20 this morning. Another source said $30 million deal is for five years.

Wow I actually was thinking that it could be the reds. Small Market team trying to re-build and move some of their vet (esp pitching).

Makes sense.

Re: Aroldis Chapman Reportedly Signs a $30M Deal (EDIT: W/ Reds)

With Volquez on the shelf they are in need of pitching....way too many unproven arms......Harang and Arroyo combine for 30+ losses each year and that is the better part of the rotation.

Don't see what Volquez or any immediate needs in the rotation have to do with this. Chapman shouldn't even sniff the majors in 2010. He's a project, and in my opinion, should be a reliever when it's all said and done. I'm just not impressed by him.

I could see him as a dominate closer.

It's amazing how different he is percieved right now than he was after the WBC. A few months ago, someone on the BA staff said they thought Chapman would have been the second best talent in the draft if he were eligible (behind Strasburg). Now, the BA staff is singing a different tune. I find that interesting.

What would ya'll do if you were holding one of his cards? Obviously not his best one, but I got into his blue refractor for about 16 at a show. I have already made some nice money on his chromes, refractor, and wbc jersey; would you sell now because of other products that are coming out in the near future with autographs (elite) or would you wait for him to dominate the minor leagues and get some huge hype during the season or perhaps out of spring training. The blues have been getting between 48-60.

100 MPH, loose arm, projectable frame, nice feel for the curve.

Who are you impressed by, Brandon Marrow?

EDIT: No I don't think he's the second coming, but he's a potential ace.
