I guess I don't see what the heartburn is about. I like the trade. Gonzalez 17 HRs to Escobars ZERO. Am I missing something here?

While Gonzalez has 17 homers & 50 RBI, his OBP is under .300.

Escobar has 19 RBI's! Glad to see him go. I have never liked him.

Hell, if we start to run away with the divison with his added power, then it was worth it. Still not sure what they plan on doing in two years at SS.

I totally agree with the other post about the Teixiera trade. Such a crappy trade then and now it is even worse. They don't have anything to show for that deal and could've had their SS and Closer for the next 8 years up in the bigs right now.

I don't think Feliz would even be in the bullpen right now for the Braves

ATL got a better deal. Look at what Tim Collins has done please.

Tim Collins is like 4 feet tall and weighs 110lbs soke and wet. Dont get me wrong hes having a great year but I dont know if it will continue to the majors. Alex Gonzalez is not in the Jays future plans what so ever. He was signed this year to fill a need at SS and luckly he's had a great year and we turned it around and got a young SS who has shown he can play

JAYPERS (IL): Your thoughts on the Braves-Blue Jays trade? (Yunel Escobar & Jo Jo Reyes for Alex Gonzalez, Tim Collins and Tyler Patornicky)

Jim Callis: It's interesting, to say the least. The Braves obviously soured on Escobar. Gonzalez is playing over his head with a .497 SLG but Collins and Pastornicky are intriguing prospects. It's a deal that could help both clubs if Escobar gets his act together.

I love Yunel, but he has to learn to play the MLB way. Seems like the Braves gave him a lot of time to change, but yet you still hear Bobby complaining about his attitude. Good for the Braves to get above average replacement for the year that has winning experience with an option for next year that will be around the same amount of money that Yunel is likely to get in arbitration.

I seriously doubt this trade would have happened their were not rumors of team officials growing tired of his attitude.

Sometimes guys need a new atmosphere to get things going and im sure that was his problem. He wasnt happy in ATL and im going to say that has affected his play. Hopefully with a fresh start with the Jays he picks things up like his old self

As a braves fan i do not like Escobar one bit.. he's very lazy and seems like he doesnt really care whenever he is playing.. As for the trade that we sent away andrus and feliz.. you guys have to remember, that wasn't Frank Wren who made that deal that was the GM before him. I'm just saying how about we wait to see the production from each player before we start kicking ourselves for trading away escobar.. you act like we are going to be screwed at SS in 2 years.. there is Free Agency.
After reading about Escobar's attitude im glad to see him go. sure i wish we could have got a little more in return but i think having Gonzalez and not Escobar puts us in the best position to win this year.

"Gonzalez is owed another $1.23MM this year and has a $2.5MM club option for 2011."

This is a key sentence as Escobar was likely due to make 8-9 million after arbitration.

I hope you're right, because I like the guy a lot when he's playing his heart out. It just seems us Braves fans have heard about his attitude before he even left AA. Hopefully he plays well for the Jays and this can serve as a reminder to him that he has to keep somethings in check.

Jeff Blauser was correct about Yunel. Basically, the two argued everyday when Yunel was with Mississippi during Blauser's only season has manager. With Escobar, one of the things he never stopped doing was talking to baserunners at 2nd base during a game. At times, it seemed he was more concerned with who was at 2nd rather then who at the plate. Sure, he stopped the whistling in between pitches and the dirt throwing behind the back between batters, but never stopped talking the 2nd basemen.

At first glance at this card, you can see why the Braves got rid of him. Just by looking at him (sarcastically) you can tell he does not have the work ethic and is a cancer.
