If you think that /25 purple is going to "kill" these sets, I think you should star collecting "Precious Moments", "Hummels" or "Hallmark Ornaments"...
This hobby just isnt for you...

The future of these sets squarely rests on the vats, gloves and arms of the players included. I made them short print (and attractive) enough, now its on them.
BG

I think its a poor move seems like more interested in being able to say ooooh look shiny in the new product instead of delivering something new and different.

Whats the point of opening up the next product for more $0.99 autographs. The claim is its done to deliver value, but I guess the value is in how much more money BG gets. At least with Topps you know you are going to get that and they dont act like their product is the next big thing since Krispy Kreme and then drop more of that Topps product into another one.

You do realize that the decision to include the Ichiro auto's was made (and made known) long before Valiant was released...

Yep, I have seen too many people take it on the Chin worse from BG products than the rest of the companies, and this RR Card mess is something people should have seen coming from him.

I have tried to give him a fair shake, heck I even asked if he did in store events like Tri Star, Panini, and Topps do as I was trying to get a local store to do one with his Metal product (as I thought he might actually do well with it) and I didnt hear a peep back.

BG saying he "doesn't need drama" is like... well... a "drama" saying it "doesn't need drama".

If it weren't for the "Leaf seems like a letdown to me" threads then there wouldn't be hardly any talk about Leaf.

Didn't someone say once that Leaf is like Cinemax? All of the effort with none of the payoff? No?

I may be mistaken.

If you're not a buyer or the biggest voice... well...

We could rub his ego every other thread and possibly get #'d/25 from "not quite released, yet" products.

Agreed I forget I am not one of his chosen ones so my opinion doesnt count, nor do I buy enough. Just that case of valiant that right now if I sold everything would go for $220 on a good day, but if I prospect and wait a year and half I might just get $221

The fact is, not EVERYONE agrees with you. To claim you are the Almighty Spokesman for the hobbyist community as a whole is laughable...
To each their own, but with your crusades (pun intended) its overly dramatic.
I dont need the drama, Ive heard what you have to say and its been noted... Move on.

I was just going to say this same thing.

You know Brian, I dont have a dog in this fight but, as someone who is a figurehead of a card company you really come off sometimes as a jerk. You would be so much better to just state your case and not get into a pissing contest with someone who may say anything against your product. You turn many people off to your company and your product when you act like a spoiled child. You are trying to earn these people's hard earned dollars so maybe as the head of a "major" card company you might want to act a bit more upstanding and businesslike.

Bad when you can walk into three card shops in three states and say his name and get the same Groan, and then trying to defend him as good for the hobby (which I will never do again) is a waste of breath

BG's not worried about the secondary market as long as the same buyers keep picking up all the cases. Those same buyers get reamed product after product in hopes that - one day - they'll have the right product in hand when Razor/Leaf finally becomes the "next big thing."

Too bad it's hard to be the "next big thing" when your spokesman has the attitude of someone who's been on top forever. It takes more than "landing Ichiro" to be above the bottom rung. I'm picking up Mahtook autos up at less than the cost of a subway sandwich.

Maybe he'll "guarantee" it'll be a $100 card next year. *eye roll smiley*

Let me just say that when I owned my shop and Brian owned Edgeman I was a big customer. He had great deals and certainly ran a good company and I had zero complaints from the dealings I had with Brian and his crew. I just hate to see someone who I know has business skills diminish his reputation by acting a fool on a message board with people who may disparage his product. I know allot of heart and soul goes into his products and it may hurt when someone says they dont like something he may have poured everything into but he is not winning customers and their dollars with the way he acts.

That is for sure two of the shops referenced Used Car Salesman in their opinions

And A_Pharis you hit it on the head, he can say just give this product time when no way a sane man believes it will increase in value

You must be new.

Beat me to it. I think Chris Levy did more damage in three threads then EVERY ONE of the other threads combined.

I do have to say the bitching from certain people in this thread that added absolutely NOTHING to the conversation at hand was enjoyable. Some people have nothing more to do than just bitch it seems.

Three individuals who popped into the thread rather late to have their opinions heard for no reason other than to bash BG.

It's sad, really.

I may be misunderstanding your position, but are you saying that no sane man believes that cards from Leaf releases (specifically Valiant) will increase over time? If so I think there's plenty of insane people around, and I'll include myself in that group. Having seen the cards, the caliber of prospects included and the price point, I would be very surprised if the players that do well do not offer great returns. Of course a large part of that stems from the fact that not everyone is sold on Leaf. More risk = more potential reward.

At least some of us aren't passive aggressive, Anthony. I call a duck a duck.

Edit: By the way, I am "late" to this thread, because I spent the day doing more than combing the FCB boards. That doesn't mean I'm not entitled to say my piece on a public forum.
