As per earlier - it probably wouldn't hurt them since a good portion of their stock is consigned cards. That fee would just get passed on.

As far as I know, Burbank has never been in the consigment business. Rob just buys big collections and breaks them down as singles. I never understood why collectors get so upset with how Burbank operates. They have a certain business model and they stick to it. If they were not selling cards and not making money they would change, but as long as the sales continue to flow, why would they?

Really? Because I once asked about buying a few to get a discount and was specifically told that they couldn't give me a multiple purchase discount because they had to make a certain amount for the consignments that they do.

Burbank is very successfull in what they do. They have found a niche in the hobby, stuck to a very successful formula and obviously, this works for them.............How many of you guys would pay someone to sort 10- 5000 count boxes of 1991 Upper Deck commons??????????? Most would probably throw it in the trash. Burbank puts their money where everyone else's mouth is and I respect that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't mean that I like their prices however.

Just because some don't like their prices, it doesn't matter to them, Same with me..If you don't like my prices online or in my retail store, that is OK........One customer might think I am overcharging for a card and then the next customer may buy that same card......One might want a card for 50 cents and the next customer may pay 250.00 for the same PSA10 of the same card>>>>>>>>>This is what the free market system is all about and why I like it.......

I personally think that we need more people like Burbank in the hobby. At least they are placing value in the hobby instead of blowing out everything and devalue the hobby. No wonder why the hobby has shrink!!!!!!!!!!!!

One final thought.........There is a place in the market for a Yugo and also a place for a Ferrari. Burbank has found both.......Sounds like alot of Yugo complaining buyers out there.

I have said it before and will do so again. I have no problem with Burbank. I have been more than willing to cough up money for the cards that they have and I need. I know not everyone agrees with this statement, and that is fair. Just my $.02

I always get a kick out of reading the Burbank threads.

It's really simple: if you dont like their prices, dont buy from them and wait for another one to roll around

They have cards people may never see again, and they know it.

Come on guys, do you really think they just fork over thousands for collections without knowing what's in them?

Now, I do have to say, that their customer service might be questionable, but their business model is genuis: buy rare cards and force people to pay their outrageous price for them.

They know for every player, theres more than likely over 100 collectors of said player and bets are, one of those people is willing to pay.

I needed a card they had a while ago, and they wanted too much, so, I let it go and am waiting to pick it up when it comes around from somewhere else, or, if they relist it, maybe from them...who knows, depends on the situation.

People complaining about scans, when you have an inventory in the millions, I guarantee you wouldnt scan every card for every person that asks

I think it's ridiculous for someone to say "BOYCOTT BURBANK", just because youre pissed off that you cant afford/have the card.

BTW, if everyone on this board boycotted them, their prices still would be the same.

And im sure theyve seen the many threads on here already

A lot of people are too used to getting steals or deals on their cards and so when Burbank comes along, they are against paying that price. I should know, I'm one of them. But when you have a card that hasn't popped up on eBay or anywhere else before and all of a sudden they have it, it's hard not to buy from them.

I agree that their prices are outrageous. I will not buy from them even though they have a ton of cards that I would love to have.

So how do you think they come up with their prices??

They have lots of cards that don't pop up often. They can pretty much set their price. I really don't see a problem with their high prices.

very true, but if you can't take the time and effort to scan a card that your asking triple digits for why would i ever buy from you. if a had an inventory of millions of cards and someone asked for a scan of a one dollar card i would probably tell them to **** off, but never on a big dollar card.

I can agree with this on some level, and actually, alot of their high dollar auctions do have scans now

However, dont forget, for them, scanning a card is not like when me and you scan a card

When we scan it, we can pretty much know right where it's at and have it at arms reach.

When Burbank has to scan a card, someone has to dig through (im guessing) hundreds of boxes on shelves, find the card, then scan it, then put the card back, then put everything back on the shelf.

If someone wants another scan: repeat process.

Can you imagine doing this for thousands of requests weekly?

lol, I don't understand why people can't just move on if they don't like the price? Do you go ape **** in a store when something is priced higher than you want to spend? No, you just go find it somewhere else.

Just for the record, my initial post was simply asking if they had found a new stash of stuff to list. I wasn't trying to start a tidal wave of hate posts concerning their prices.

Sure they have lots of cards that don't pop up often. They also have MILLIONS of common cards that they charge outfuckingrageous prices for. $1.06 for a 1994 Topps common? SERIOUSLY?

They're overpriced across the board. They pay NO attention to the industry and actual value. They're using a Mike Wheat/Larry Fritsch business model that's been irrelevant since Dealernet and classified trade ads started showing up 20 years ago.

Not to mention, they are RUDE ********. They have piss poor customer service, they're not helpful at all, they won't even bother letting you see cards before you buy them (because they're nowhere near mint)...and people willingly give these ********* business?

THEY DO IT ALLL THE TIME, IF YOU ARE GOING TO PAY 300 BUCKS FOR A CARD YOU HAD BETTER HAVE A SCAN. I JUST GOT A CARD FROM BECKETT. 40 BUCKS, AN 03 LEAF LIMITED TNT PRIME. AND GUESS WHAT, ----YOU GOT IT NOOOO SCAN AND NOOOOO IT WAS NOT A PRIME. I AM SO SICK OF THIS CRAP, I WILL NOT BUY WITH NO SCAN EVER AGAIN. FROM ANYBODY.

OK, I'm ready for the tomatoes to come flying my way, but I like 'em. I haven't found anyone else that has their quality, so I save up and buy the cards I want. Maybe I'm lucky because the players I collect usually are lower $. And my dealings with Stephen have always been very good. That said, they no longer have a single card for sale that I need. :)
