Dodgers 2010= = No money No new additions court battle/divorce /shed payroll ::facepalm::
when did we start talking about theh dodgers?

But while its being discussed, maybe they are too confident right now. They lost their ACE (veteran) and a solid OF in Juan (i know they have 3 all star caliber OF).

Manny, Martin, Billingsley are coming off not very good years, things should be tight between the dodgers rockies and giants

I must be in a minority here, but for that kind of money for Holliday, they could probably have signed..

Bay, Tejada, Smoltz, and Derosa....(ok, maybe 3 of the 4 and someone a bit lesser--but you get my point)

Sorry, but I just cant get this excited for the money Holliday would be getting. I think Holliday-Pujols-Ludwick is a great combination, and the pitching staff is pretty solid even with Jamie Garcia/Mitch Boggs as the 5th starter, but it just seems like the Cardinals would be a better team to let Holliday walk, take the draft picks, and go get 2 or 3 good bats and another starting pitcher......

Plus, with the extra draft picks, the Cardinals would have some room to make a deal if needed to bring in another big bat or arm before the trade deadline...

TK

Are you saying we should trade draft picks?

You can't do that in the MLB.

No, I am saying with the draft picks we are getting, it would make our other players we have drafted somewhat expandable....like Bryan Anderson, David Freese, Joe Mather, etc.

Looks like from what I am reading though it would be for like a 5 year deal, and they still plan on possibly addressing 3rd base and the 5th starter beyond in house promotions.....we will see what happens. I just feel that there is a price point where it is not worth resigning Matt Holliday when you can get 3 or 4 players that will put just as good of a team on the field.

If they sign Holliday and then are able to pick up a 5th starter and some sort of 3rd baseman on the cheap--or even if they can somehow bring back Derosa and Smoltz after signing holliday, I think that is what it is going to take to make a serious run at the World Series with the teams like the Yankees, Angesls, Red Sox, and Phils
