I really like the actual eTopps cards in-hand. Luckily, Zimmerman only has one (plus the auto'd version). I actually owned over 50 of his in-port at one time, luckily I sold them all last year. I'd hate to be stuck with getting that many sent now!

Man this blows......just saw this today when reading the Hot list.
I was actually on the Etopps site, but didn't even notice the "special message" written on the logo on the right.

I'm pretty pissed. Probably like most people - I can live with the fact they will no longer have cards, I can live with some of these cards now potentially being worthless.......but the shipping thing is horrible. Even worse, I had all my PC cards in a cart and was on the verge of finally having them shipped about a month ago, but then I held back and figured I'd wait to see if I can use my points for something else. ::facepalm::

I really don't know what to do now.

I'm in agreement with everyone here that this does suck. I also think like others here that the cards already in hand are going to be really rare down the road. No sane person is going to spend the shipping on these cards now. Assuming they never leave Topps they could end up being really rare.

I'm really lucky I only have a Granderson left in hand already.

I also was going to request my cards, but then I seen the 2011 cards were not available to ship. So, I was waiting for that to be done.

Same here, wanted my Hosmer and Cam Newton...does anyone from Topps read these boards? Would be nice to hear from somebody at Topps but my emails to "support@etopps" have gone unanswered. Big surprise!

I would imagine that if eTopps truly is done, there will be a finite delivery request date. (IE: something like, After November 22, 2012 you will no longer be able to request delivery on ANY cards in your eTopps portfolio.)

And once that date passes, I would have to assume that a sweeping back door deal will flood the market with in hand cards. As for the cards that haven't yet been printed (possibly a fair amount), I'll be curious to see how they resolve that.

Then again, let's not forget, this is all guesswork, Topps made that cryptic claim that they'll have an updated Q&A or FAQ regarding these eTopps changes.

So what happens now to the Secondary market?

My guess would be a spike in already in-hand Copies, especially graded, then a ton of Backdoor Copies hit the Market after the redemptions expire and then the prices crash and probably never recover.

It's a shame. IMO, they were always a cool-looking card... :(

That's how I see it too. Although, I'm not entirely sure they actually make the full run of cards. The whole not having guys available for shipping makes me think they hold off until they have enough interest in an individual card to be shipped, and then they make what they need.

I just checked ebay. Most in hand cards are significantly higher. Oddly not that much higher for Pujols though. Although, the difference is about the shipping price. So that makes some sense.

Just listed mine via the eTopps website. Not sure how that all works since I've never sold them that way before. Always took delivery. Apparently I had a Darvish.

I never knew the S&H was that high, that is a outright ripoff. I do like buying etopps cards that are "in-hand" and wonder how any seller is able to make money with those sky high shipping rates. Oh well I have 1 reward point left to use tonight and will dump whatever card I get with it.

I saw this coming two years ago. I used to get my cards delivered to a HTA store in Chicago five or six years ago. The fees were discounted if I had them delivered to the shop as opposed to my home, so it was palatable. Two years ago I had built up about 30 cards in my account and wanted to get them shipped again. The price was astronomical both to my house and to the HTA store. Like, the cost to ship them was more than the total value of the cards. Just insane. So, I sold them all on Ebay and have not looked back. Good riddance.

it would cost me $338.25 to have my 187 cards shipped to me. fracking stupid insane! kiss my ass topps. shady bastards

and my 209 reward points are fracking worthless. its impossible to get anything from the reward catalog.

WAY TO frack YOUR CUSTOMERS!

Outright criminal. Those cards would probably fit in two LARGE Flat Rate Priority boxes via USPS for, what, $13 a box?

Awesome! it's going to cost around $50 to ship the cards I'd like.
Freaking ridiculous.

It actually makes me wish I was dealing on Ebay.....so I'd have some course of action when the box shows up with like $12 shipping.

I think I'm going to wait it out a little.....hope somehow, someway, someone gets involved that can put some heat on Topps - there is no way they can legitimately justify these shipping costs.
Worst case scenario - I'll probably wind up paying the shipping.......I'd like to stand my ground on this, but then that really does no good either, because I already paid Topps for the cards and then would wind up with nothing and not have the cards I want either. Both options blow.

While I'm typing - Anyone know what's up with the Bryce Harper card?
I figure that's one of the few non-PC cards I'll take the chance with and would like to have in-hand.
It's showing up as "Not Available". I only ask because I have 2011 F-Ball cards released well after the Harper that are showing up with a "Available 2/8/1013".

The 2011 Baseball issues originally said they would be available on 12/8, then it got pushed back to 1/8, now they are showing not available. Pisses me off because I had a handful of 2010 issues which I wanted to have shipped to me but I was waiting on the 2011 cards to be printed. I even traded off a handful of cards for rewards points which I planned to use for shipping :benson:

I just sent the following email to eTopps customer support, it probably won't make a difference but I will update this thread if I get a reply...

To whom it may concern,
I just wanted to voice my displeasure on the recent events which unfolded regarding your shipping rates. I have been an eTopps supporter since 2006 and I have a number of cards in my portfolio which I planned on being shipped to me. I had planned on using rewards points to off set the shipping costs, I even traded a few cards for rewards points in order to do so. I was waiting on a half dozen cards from 2011 Baseball to be produced before taking delivery. They originally were said to be available in November, then it got pushed back to December, then January and in that time you chose to update the shipping rates without notifying consumers via email. I understand the raised shipping costs but had I received prior knowledge, I would have had my 2010 and earlier cards shipped to me a long time ago. Now I have 20 cards or so which are virtually worthless as the cost to ship them would far outweigh the value. I am a member of numerous online forums and the general consensus is that Topps really pulled one over on their loyal fan base. If something is not done to rectify the situation I plan on contacting the BBB. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,
Blake Boisseranc

I'm definitely interested to hear what they have to say, if anything. I only have 3 cards in my portfolio but like others I was waiting until the 2011 cards were made available to have them shipped to me.

Sold the rest of my portfolio over the weekend. A couple were cards I wanted but screw it. If I still want them at some point in the future, I'll just hope in-hand versions pop up.
