they are supposed to release a list of FAQ's tomorrow to address some questions. they are saying the high increase in shipping fees includes a "handling" charge. funny how they never had that handling fee for 10 years. i got something they can "handle".

I can understand postage going up, but it's hard to understand handling fees going up "a lot". I guess I wouldn't mind so much if I could still use my reward points. I've been saving them until I was ready to ship. I had no idea they weren't going to let me use them anymore.

Strange how I would get IPO emails weekly without fail, but I never received 1 email concerning shipping fee increases and no longer being able to use reward points.

Same here. I've emailed "support" several times about this with no response. Something tells me they know they're purposely screwing over tons of customers and just don't give a crap!

This is Topps mantra. Every morning at 8:00am they rise, place their hands over their hearts, and repeat that exact phrase 20 times in unison

Its the sudden removal of value from the reward points that pisses me off. I could have all my cards shipped to me and have points to burn if they still allowed them to be used. Instead they took something that I had 300 of that used to be worth about $1, and maybe them pretty much worthless.

What is the time frame limit for reverse charging on your credit card due to eTopps card extortion?

They have to do something to resolve the points issue.

Well the bottom is starting to drop out of the etopps market. A few months ago I sold a lot of 3 - 2001 Allen Iverson etopps cards for around $5. Last month I sold another lot of 3 for $2.86. Well today I had a lot of 6 end at $1.55. Oh well they were all etopps cards I received from my rewards points so I guess I can't complain too much. I am officially out of the etopps market, well maybe not I did just get 4 different "in-hand" ones today so I may still keep those on my radar. I wish they would release the number of cards that are "in-hand" for each one. I suspect that all the "in-hand" ones are less than 20% of any one run of card.

Trying to decide if I should have them ship the seven eTopps cards I have in my portfolio now or wait and hope that Topps listens to their customers and lowers the shipping costs. Haha!!!

It would cost me $16.35 ($6.75 for first card; $1.60 for each additional card) to ship them via USPS.

Total value of the seven cards: $5.20

It would cost you a lot more than that!

For some reason, there is a cap of a 3-card limit using the USPS. So if you had 7 cards you wanted shipped to you, and you chose the USPS for the delivery method:

$9.95 for the 1st 3 cards ($6.75 for first card; $1.60 for each additional card),
$9.95 for the 2nd 3 cards,
$6.75 for the 7th card
______

$26.65 would be your total! :x

They have finally posted some Q&A in updates. Sitting on a bunch of these - wish I would've known about the shipping changes. They state you need to contact customer service to work out a way to get cards to you.

Eff you Topps, eff you!

Dear eTopps community,

We apologize for the confusion caused by our latest announcements and changes. We've come up with the following Q&As to help provide more transparency and we will furthermore work internally and with the community to enhance future communications.

If you still have any further questions, please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations team at [email protected] or 1 (800) 489-9149.

Why did you decide stop offering new eTopps cards?
This was not an easy decision. This business has been a part of Topps for over 10 years, and we have many loyal customers whose business we greatly appreciate. The reality is, over the past 10 years the site has become dated, and unfortunately, the business model has become unsustainable. Also, finding a vendor with the technological capabilities to print eTopps cards has become more and more difficult, and at the end of the day the business was not making money.

Do I have to take shipment of my cards?
Absolutely not. If you wish to take cards in-hand we will continue to offer shipment, while if you wish to keep cards in your portfolio, or “in port,” we do not currently plan to force them out and your credit card will not be charged for shipping and handling.

So you’re not going to automatically charge my credit card?
No, we are not going to charge your card for shipping and processing charges unless you specifically request delivery of your cards.

How long will my cards continue to stay in port?
As of today we will continue to hold cards in ports and offer shipping and processing services to those who wish to receive cards in-hand. We expect to continue this service in 2012. If we make any changes, all collectors will receive ample notice.

Why did you implement such a steep price increase on the cost to ship cards?
For approximately five years, we have not increased the shipping and handling charges while the actual costs of shipping, picking, packing, and packaging have risen significantly. To date, we have absorbed this cost, but it is no longer possible for us to do so.

If I have a lot of cards in my port, is there any discount available in shipping and processing cost?
We do understand that for some customers, the cost of shipping all or most of your cards would be significant at the current shipping and processing rates. For those that have a significant amount of cards in portfolio, we encourage you to contact our customer service team who will do best to work with you to get your cards in-hand as simply as possible.

I have many points, what can I do with them?
We do expect to continue our catalog. In fact, we are looking to enhance and improve the catalog offerings in the future, and look forward to providing a greater variety of options for our community to redeem points.

Will you offer a baseball game in 2012?
We will offer a fantasy baseball game in 2012, in an effort to reward those that have accumulated cards over the past years. We expect at least a 10-week fantasy game and our present plan is to allow 2008-2011 cards to be used.

Will you replace or build off of eTopps, or have a new eTopps like offering soon?
We are exploring many new digital platforms for the future. Some are similar to eTopps, some are unique and different. We don’t expect that any of our future products will directly build off of eTopps, but we are hopeful that these new digital offerings will appeal to our current eTopps community, and we sincerely hope you stay tuned for updates.

Can we continue to trade cards and sell cards via eBay?
We will continue to offer trading and selling of cards via eBay, and the eBay trading floor will not be affected at this time.

WTF does that mean?
Can they be any more vague? Not sure what "significant means" and "will do best to work with you to get your cards as simply as possible" is basically saying don't get your hopes up.

That didn't even answer the main issue now for me. That 3 cards per order crap. I still don't understand that. They really need to and are going to send me like 10 separate packages for my cards? I think that made me even more upset as I began reading......I mean I didn't realize I had to worry about them automatically charging my card for anything. I didn't realize I should be concerned about that as well. ::facepalm::

Do we enjoy continuously ass raping our customers?
Yes we do. We love the fact that since we are the only ones to hold an MLB license, we can pretty much do whatever we want. We see no problem charging an ass load of money to ship your cards to you, because we thought it was a great business model to keep losing money on the shipping of the cards in the past. We never thought of gradually increasing our shipping fees each year, we figured we would just make up for it when we decided to end the program.

What kind of qualifications are required to work for us here at Topps?
Absolutely no education is a requirement to work for Topps. In fact, we hire people that have a heartbeat, that is our only requirement. We feel we can train them on the job once they are hired. We have actually been known to hire monkeys on occasion to help us make these important decisions.

For those that have ordered them in-hand, how do they ship them? I'm having trouble figuring out why they charge so much. It seems like you could fit at least 50 cards in a medium flat-rate box, which is $11 at the post office.
