~ FCB's 1st Site Auction ~
Sunday February 9, 2014
5:00PM EST

It's time!!! The first FCB Auction is here and we need 4-5 members who would like to be the initial auctioneers! You will be allow to auction off up to 20 items each for this first event. If you are interested in being one of the auctioneers, please reply to the thread and give us an idea of what you will be auctioning off. I will contact you about this to discuss more details.

Auction Location: FCB chatroom - "FCB Community Auction" (will a mod please delete the other chat room "FCB_Community_Auction" so there is no confusion)

Auction Time: 5:00PM EST

Auctioneers: TBD
1. AutoSetsNBA
2 tonsofcommons
3. Bill Menard
4.
5.

Auction Format: Going once! Going twice!! Gone!!!

 1. Auctioneer (who must be present) will post a card that is up for auction in the chat room. A picture can also be provided (this would be preferred).
 2. Auctioneer will set the opening bid price, but there are to be no reserves. Everything will sell.
 3. Bidders in the chat room bid (ONLY BID NO CHATTING!!! - can open another chat room for that since there are many "rooms").
 4. When the bidding slows, the auctioneer says "going once!" if someone bids after this, the auctioneer gives it a few seconds to see if anyone else jumps in with a bid. If not, then he says "going once!" again, if no bids, then he says "going twice!" and if no bid is placed again before he says "GONE!" then that is the end of the bidding for the card and it goes to the last person who made a bid.
 5. Shipping should be determined by the seller at the conclusion and based on actual shipping costs associated with sending the item. This may vary depending on the quantity of cards purchased, final value for insurance, etc.

Auction Increments: Minimum price for a card should be started at $1.00. If it's worth less than that, please don't enter it into the auction. Bid increases should be in $.25 cent or higher increments to $5.00, $.50 cent or higher increments to $20.00, $1.00 increments to $50.00, and $2.00 increments for anything over $50.00.

Duplicate bids by different bidders: If two people bid the same amount (both posting at the same time), the person who bid first will be honored as the high bid and it will be up to the second bidder to increase his bid if he so desires.

Attendees: Anyone who is an FCB member may participate in the auctions. Please reply to this post if you are going to be around and would like to be a participant in the auction as a potential buyer. This will give us an idea of the potential interest.

Attendee Guidelines: EVERYONE is welcome to participate!!! The more the merrier! Please, only participate and bid IF you intend to pay. Payment will be due at the conclusion of the auction and should be arranged between the auctioneer and the high bidder for his item(s). We suggest collecting the winning bids by paypal and suggest you do not accept gift payments unless you are comfortable with this.

There are no buyer or seller premiums or additional fees. Whatever you bid is the final price. Whatever you make as an auctioneer is your money. FCB is not taking any cuts.

Mods: Please sticky!!! This is for the benefit of the entire community and we really want to get the word out. Please tell your friends on other collecting sites about this great opportunity as well!

How will shipping charges work? Free shipping, or will each auctioneer need to specify their shipping fees?

Is there a big enough audience on FCB to justify auctioning anything of quality here?

Does the auctioneer have to be present to do this? I have work on Sunday and will not be home until after 10:00 PM California time.
Can I just post scans of what I have and let it ride?

Questions answered and updated in first post.

Shipping to be set by seller at conclusion of auction, as they should be, given that costs can vary depending on how much the bidders buy and how heavy the package is/value for insurance, etc. Of course, it should be based on actual costs and not some inflated figure to try and make money off the shipping.

Yes, the auctioneer should be present. If you can't make it to this one, we'll do it again soon.

I don't know what they turn out will be - give us some support though and help us make it a success! I suspect it will take a few nights of this to get the ball rolling on FCB Auction Nights.

Hey I'll take one of the 5 spots, current NBA, NFL, MLB Auto cards, Most Graded. Maybe a High End set or two.

I appreciate you wanting to step right up and take one of the 5 spots for selling, but I'm going to reserve them for the time being for people who have some what of an established record of dealing on the site. Maybe in a couple of months or so you can auction some stuff off if we are able to get the chat auction idea rolling.

Sounds good, the items I have are probably a bit high end for an auction thats just starting off. I was going to auction the 12-13 Immaculate Collection full NBA base set, a Bowman REF Durant RC /399 BGS 9.5 Wilson autos Luck Autos. A TTT marino patch auto /9. Probably wouldn't go very far. TY though, let me know.

I hope to participate as a bidder. I believe that we should get a nice amount of people coming over after the card show which should help.

One thing I think would be useful would be for people who mention that they will be bidding to mention what kinds of cards they will be looking to purchase to give people a feel of who will be around. I'll be looking for high-end vintage game-used and rookie autographs.

I do have stellar eBay feedback, I totally understand though, just trying to help fill a substantial spot. I will happily attend.

Welcome to the boards by the way. We'd definitely love to see some of the cards you have; it sounds like some great stuff. As the auctions (hopefully) become more well attended and as you get acclimated here I could definitely see the cards you mentioned garnering serious interest. We also have way too few basketball guys around, so welcome on that note.

Another note if you are interested in the auction, from 3:00-6:00 PM Sunday (Feb 9th) we are having a "virtual card show" on the transaction boards (in the baseball section as of now, although if there is interest for other sports we will figure out how we want to approach it). Please stop by if it's of interest. There should be some really nice stuff, and the site will be randomly giving away FCB Bucks in transaction threads (1 FCB buck = $1).

Okay. We will give you a spot to auction off some stuff. PM me with how many items. I suppose with payments through PayPal all members should be protected and it is always nice to see some new members participate. Thanks and welcome!
