thanks...is it rare? I can pick one up for $6 reasonable? when you say reflective, does it show rainbow colors?

I'd say it was reasonable. <nod>

The closest I can come to describing it: It's like a cut geode. Seriously. <shrug> Amethyst maybe. <g>

Not sure if that helps, but it is an honest appraisal of what it looks like - to me. :-)

Does anybody know if he's doing any signings soon or if he does it through someplace. thanks

Sure is. <nod>

He's scheduled for a November signing at the Bob Feller Museum. Here's the link (about midway down the list):

http://www.bobfellermuseum.org/events/upcomingEvents.asp

The museum is suggesting all materials be paid for and in their hands by the end of the month (October). They said that it gets 'kind of crazy' the closer the signing occurs - and the more time they have to prep - the less likely something will go wrong.

Good luck! :-D

from the bob feller page:
Thomas is on a short list of players who have hit 500 home runs while maintaining a career .300 batting average (joining Hall-of-Famers: Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Henry Aaron, and later joined by Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramírez).
And we know the last 2 are cheaters.

RE: 1997 Fleer Diamond Tribute

It's not a refractor. It's... uhm... shiny diamonds. Does that make sense? Here's a scan of the card:

It's very reflective, but it's not a refractor... if that makes sense.

It sort of has a kaleidoscope effect.

Beckett list it at $20. Unless you want to bend over at Burbank and pay $60.

Thanks! I picked it up at checkoutmycards for $8.

I guess I don't get it guys. I remember opening this lot the day it was listed and not thinking anything of it. What am I missing?

Agreed. Looks like a crappy lot that will sell for a crappy price, nothing much to see there.

Oh, the Thomas isn't a refractor I don't think, at least he doesn't list it as one and it doesn't have a rainbow pattern in the image. I did open the lot hoping for that when it was listed because it came up in one of my Thomas searches, but it wasn't to be.

I stared at that for 10 minutes last night :o and kept saying to myself " you only collect Griffey you only collect Griffey
why are you trying to figure out this Frank Thomas auction for a deal on a player you no longer collect? You only
collect Griffey".

99% of the time I only collect Griffey. I've got an incoming card though that'll say otherwise.
