Finally completed this "rainbow" of sorts.....just picked up the gold set:

Real Nice set Randy...I am still waiting on the gold. Where did you find the Gold Set if you dont mind me asking and did it set you back a good amount?

Matt

I asked the seller that has 3 silver sets listed right now for $180 each and they listed a gold, which I offered and won at $80. A little bit more than what I had hoped to win one for ($60-$70), but a bit hard to find since you have to compete with Griffey collectors for one of the 500 sets. They may have more than one set, but i am not sure. The last two highland mint items that I need are the Thomas Silver Magnum Medallion and the gold version of the Sportstrike/Enviromint card.

In my opinion I think that is a decent deal considering the Book Value of the set and the competition for them. Thanks for the information. I need most of the coins still as far as Highland Mint material goes.

I can hardly contain my excitement over getting this card in the mail today!!! Probably paid too much, but thought the odds were against me in that someone would have always bid $1 more than my highest, highest offer...... I have only seen one of these before, which is on Lance's website. Anyone have an idea of how rare these Cooperstown Promos really are?

My wife bought this for me yesterday to add to my early collection:

Pretty special to me, despite being homemade.

Includes AL and NL prospects, as well as a pamphlet for the event. Very nice period piece.

Dude, that is awesome!! I would have had to buy this and give it to my wife to give me as a present.....no way she would have ever found this her self!

Well, she didn't find it herself I'm afraid. She was standing by me when I found it and got excited about it. I was logged into my eBay account, and when I walked away, she hit the BIN and paid for it using her spending money...we give each other an allowance so she spent her allowance on me :).

My wife has asked me if there are any Frank Thomas cards she could get for me for some type of holiday and I usually say, thanks but don't worry about it. I'm afraid she will find the Burbank store on E-Bay and just go BIN crazy! She is a stay at home mom so any money she spends on gifts for me are as if I buy them for myself.......we need to figure out the whole allowance thing.

That is awesome! I only have one of his signatures from 1990 on a picture.........I havn't given in yet to the prices.....but sure I will down the road. At least his signatures from 1991 are usually very cheap.....between $5-15 shipped. That is what I have been picking up over the past year or so. I was disappointed to be outbid on the 1991 Donruss yesterday..... It went for a bit more than a 1991 non certified auto usually does.

Nice Job completing that platinum medallion set! I still need the 2 checklist cards (249 and 475). Great David Letterman video - I, too, have not seen it before. Ah, the good ole days!
