lol...I never started this and have no desire for drama with cards, cards are fun just as you said, not sure why Steve has chosen to go the route he has, but I'm not going to let someone drag my name out on these boards for no apparent reason...I don't think anyone would...

Anyone recall what set the Griffey Crusades were in? Could be fun breaking a couple grand worth of cases, lucking out, and still coming away with money.

well, let it be known that i will NOT pay near that much for a griffey card...ANY griffey card.....red crusade, blue, pink, purple or rainbow crusade. With that kind of money, I could do some great things for my family. If anyone wants to buy my collection for too much money, i will sell it away tomorrow. I have to ask, if you spend that much money on a card, what do you do with it when it arrives? I mean, something that expensive would end up in a safe deposit box and not be looked at but for a few times a year. Doesnt seem worth it to ME...

ANYWAY, has anyone else noticed that auto's have moved up in price a little recently? Not just the new topps releases, but previous UD releases. I like to watch cards that i have a copy of, just to see where they end, and they have consistently been selling for 30-40% more in the last few months than they have in the past. Are there new collectors? Are the topps releases so nice that collectors are realizing there's something to autos? Curious....

I've noticed that some of the older autos have gone up a little lately as well. Although it seems that some of the lower end inserts that have been showing up have also gone up...seems that the big names in general in all sports are going for more than they have been, at least from the 90s which is what I pay the most attention to...

Nice pissing match going on here...

My only Griffey auto - I wanted one for a long time, and finally had a bit of extra PayPal to fund one:

^ nice card!! that is one of the autos i noticed has gone a little higher, but even more so the gold version. To the point that i actually considered putting my gold up for auction because i would have nearly doubled my "investment". Great card though, nice bold auto

Hey Guys! I joined this site some time ago but never read much or posted anything on it. I'm a huge Griffey collector, just like you guys, and was thrilled to find this thread. I spent the last hour or so reading through most of it. I only collect the 90s stuff (and some 2000 Mariners stuff). I was a kid in the 90s, and there just was not anything better than Ken Griffey Jr. I have bought and sold cards with Steve Brinn recently (great guy and I hope he finds his Crusade Red one of these days), and in the past, so I know at least one guy on here. My ebay user name is dr_mccarthy, so some of you may have seen and bought some of my cards in the past. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself, and I look forward to future discussions with you guys! I have a pretty extensive Griffey collection (nothing like magicpapa and some of you others, AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME stuff you guys have by the way!) and I plan on getting a photobucket account very soon.

And magicpapa, I really enjoyed reading about how your son got you back into collecting in 1992. I have a 9 month old son, and I'm hoping he enjoys collecting one day as much as I do now. Maybe he will one day get me to collect someone other than Griffey Jr. and Mickey Mantle.

Do any of you guys have a 1997 Finest Gold Embossed Die Cut Refractor Griffey? I've seen one on here, and it is in magicpapa's trophy case, so I'm sure there is no getting that one. I know that is about a $1000 card. If someone has one, I'd be very interested in a cash/trade deal.

Here are some Griffeys I have. Not really a Griffey collector per se, more of just a general collector, but am a fan of his. Nothing too crazy but figured might as well share what I haveGriffey scan.jpg

Good stuff Mario. That 95 Donruss Elite is one of my all-time favorites. I love the design of that one and used to want that one so much when I was a kid. I over-compensated when I got older and at one time had about 20 of them, haha.

I've bought from you before. (You probably recognize a few in my scans) You've always got some great stuff, thanks.

Thanks Murphy. I know what you mean about over compensating when you get older and actually have more than a couple bucks to buy cards. Having money to spend and still having that love for cards is a dangerous thing

Hey Griffey experts I have a question for you.
I received a Mariners jersey back in the early 90's.
Any opinions on this auto?
Any chance it could it be an early Griffey sig?
I'm guessing not, but I'm no expert.
It came with a COA from a grocery chain that used to have card/memorabilia shops in them.
Any opinions would be welcomed, good or bad.
Thanks in advance.

I think he pretty much quit the tail on the Y in early 92, as per the J I have not seen one like that from the early 90's

Almost all of his autos look like they say "Km" instead of "Ken", but the "m" never looks like yours...yours is looped, or rounded like an actual "m" and his have always been jagged like "M" (even more close together). Just my opinion. I have seen a lot of Griffey autos in my life (and his), but I wouldn't consider myself an expert. I am not sure if I have seen him put a dot at the end, either. None of mine do, and I have a lot from early years.
