Ok, so since a lot of you are holding off on the Blue Ink 09 Griffey Auto because prices should definitely come down, which is a no brainer, are you going to hold off on the Black Auto of which there are only 13 of? If the Blue ink got bids of $1800+, I would have to guess that the black ink would hit at least $2500 or so?

I think the whole different ink situation is crazy, they're not numbered any differently, they're all to 89. I bet the majority of the people that pull the black ink won't know there is a difference.

I agree on the ink thing....I don't think it's a big deal and don't think too many people will know about it either....was actually going to ask what everyone thought of the different ink, but left it out....does anyone really give a crap about the different ink?

I'm probably in the minority, but i dont give a crap about the different ink OR the card. This whole 89 UD buyback autograph is becoming very played out by UD in my opinion. Even more so, this "20 years" inscription to me is pretty lame. I think the prices are insane, but then again i will never own one. Perhaps having it in hand makes it easier to justify the high price tag.?!?

I could not agree with you more. I have a /99 signed RC Upper Deck, even graded. I'm looking at those cards and I deffinitely like mine better. Am I going to pay $1000 (a week from now) for another buyback of the same card because UD decided to screw me by putting out another 89 of them and rub it in by writing something about a 20th anniversary? At this point, I don't think I'm interested in the card at all.

Re. Ink color. Blue - Black I couldn't care less. I will say I do like the cards with RED ink, especially on buybacks. But then I live in Cincinnati- what can you say? BUT I've been to Seattle!

I can't see a card numbered to 89 holding that high of a value for long. I think that you will see them under $500 by the end of the season.

Question for you long time Griffey card collectors.

How long (in years) have you been at it now?
When you started, did you think it would "get this crazy"?

I'd love to hear any insight that you'd like to share.

Well, I've been collecting Griffey since I started collecting in 1990. I got a few cards of his for my birthday and it was all downhill from there. I got up to about 2,300 different Griffeys before I sold off a bunch a few years ago. Now I just stick to autos and a few hard to find 90's inserts. I was 9 when I started, and man how I wish I had picked up more 90's inserts when they were first released. I stopped collecting for a few years from around 1996-98...woops.
