Beautiful Card but I don't get it, for reasons previously described. Somehow I would have never guessed you'd have been such an early buyer of the card. I'm shocked- got to say.
The 1999 signed Griffey Jr RC is 10 years older (/99) than the new one (/89). Not only is the total number of cards now near 200, but why should the newer one, 10 years newer than the older one, be worth more or even near what the older buyback is worth? What am I missing?
Is it the 20th anniversary inscription that makes it worth so much more?
As all know, I've overpaid for a bunch of stuff and am fairly new to collecting Griffey cards compared to most of you old-timers. But I'm learning from all of you to get more value for my buck and older is better than newer. I'm currently selling off most of my 2008 cards to concentrate on earlier cards and finish the 2007 sets I started.
So that said, how does paying $1700 for the newer buyback get justified. Many of us have agreed that it would be worth much less as more were released.
Bruce, since you have "been around the block" and know what you are doing, and are not mentally ill (at least in my communications with you), you probably have an answer I'm not thinking of. Please share it with me.

I didn't realize you were buying my cards for me Steve, with that being said, if you have a question about my buying habits, please email me. I did not pay the $1700 you have assumed I've paid.

I DID NOT PAY THAT EITHER ALSO I LOVE THE ADDED 20 YEARS
