out of all the true legendary hitters, I would say him and Ruth are the only two that didnt bust their balls crazy like it.

interesting to point out that- Ruths team had Gehrig, who worked out like crazy, had an awesome muscular back and played till he literally couldnt move anymore

Griffeys team had Edgar Martinez, who had bad injuries, a small unimpressive frame and a lazy eye(I forget the scientific term) yet through hard work became a great hitter.

its been fun following Griffeys career, but its always hard to watch someone who could be doing more (at some point, right now due to the injuries it may be too late but at some point he could have done more). now his metabolism is slowing down and hes going to have to rely on more than talent to keep doing what he loves.

He has no heart, that is the problem I have with him! Do you think Ty Cobb or Pete Rose would have slept during a game? No. They worked their butts off to make themselves the players they became. Griffey was lucky enough to be blessed with great genetics. He coasted on that until his body broke down at 30. If he had worked as hard as Cobb, Rose, Bonds, Clemens or McGwire, he would have 800 HRs and be with Bonds in the 500 500 club. He could have been a top 3 player of alltime, instead he has been average to below average for the last 10-12 years of his career. But people still love and stick up for his lazy ass! I do not get it.

You are a ******, and u dont know a thing about Ken Griffey Jr or his character - piss off.

ahah, work as hard as Bonds? Are you an idiot? What did he work hard at? sticking needles in his butt? Bonds stopped stealing bases at the age of what 30-32? He stayed healthy partly due to all of the PED's he STUFFED into his body. To hear someone put Barry Bonds and "worth his butt off" in the same sentence is hilarious, ignorant, and just flat out silly. Oh and you are also comparing griffey to two more roid monsters in clemens and mcgwire. YOu might want to re-think you argument.

Skrip,
Dont even bother. This guy crawls out from under his rock now and then to try to stir things up. He's as clueless as they come when it comes to baseball. He's in denial in every sense of the word. I figure if you treat him like a pimple on your ass and leave him be, eventually he will go away.

Seattle should just cut him. If he can't even stay awake for a game. Nice example for the young guys.

after last year I said he had some left. he hit 19 HRs while playing hurt and in minimal ABs.. also had tons of walks, which was good to show the rest of the team that was last in walks.

but this year he is having major problems. he has no power, so hes never going to get any walks even because they just challenge him up the middle all day long. a huge part of him being here last year was the good teammate factor, and a solid veteran presence. . but whos not a good vet on that team? theres practically 1 young guy on the team and a bunch of older guys like Sweeny,Wilson,Ichiro, etc.

I really feel they need to look at what the minor leagues have right now, and you cant have dh only guys on a roster if you want to make it 162

Fail. It is well known that Bonds had one of the most intensive workout regimens of anyone in professional sports. I'm not saying he didn't take steroids but to insinuate that he only 'stuck needles in his butt' is laughable.

For the sake of the Mariners, it was probably better Griffey was asleep  He should've retired a few years ago.

Also, it's pretty unfair to knock Griffey for not working as hard as Bonds. It's well known that very few players had offseason workout routines as stringent as Bonds'. Bonds outworked 99% of the players out there.

Do you think Ken Griffey Junior would bet on his own game?

Should you have miraculously said yes to the Rose comparison, let's try your wonder-boy Ty Cobb.

Would Ken Griffey Jr ever commit MURDER?

You picked a good pair of guys there, bo.

Ken Griffey Junior has more heart in his pinky toe than most dudes have in their entire body.

i think its funny as hell! have you never seen a reliever sleep in the bully? same thing, you need them you wake them... no big deal.

a funny one-
Mangus Carlsen, the worlds #1 rated chess player, and 19 y/o phenom.. fell a sleep at the board. (with the clocks running mind you) the opponent was dumb enough to wake him up! Carlsen then drank some of his orange juice and swiftly beat him :)

I know Bonds was one of the best workout guys in mlb for some time, just the way he worded that was comedic gold. I had an image of Bonds doing some military presses with a needle sticking out of his ass lmao

while bonds did have a monster of a workout... roids or hgh is still short cutting and bypassing the time and effort to naturally gain an advantage. you dont have to be such a dick when trying to make a point.

I have to agree with this. sometimes you have some good ideas, but the "me vs. world" way you come across is going to make people pissed off a lot.
