I don't see what the big deal is.. would Griffey be the first guy to ever fall asleep at a game? I highly doubt it. is all the traveling and whatnot tiring on your body and mind.. most definately. if he wasn't playing and just fell asleep why would that mean he is lazy and you can question his career stats and whatnot? I think its more you hate that Griffey is the golden boy in the baseball fans eye and you feel Bonds should be.. maybe you are Barry Bonds afterall. pleading your case on message boards will not win you HOF votes..get it through that big HGH grown head of yours...

Unlike most people here, I don't claim to know what type of person Griffey Jr is or isn't. I can't say I know him personally like it seems many here do. I certainly don't know if he took steroids or not. His multiple injuries makes one become doubtful as to his true integrity. As for him sleeping....I don't see how that makes him lazy. We all have days where we just find it difficult to keep our eyes open and need a few minutes of shut-eye.

However, I know he has such a strong and large fan base that any controversy surrounding him would be quickly dismissed as inaccurate and impossible.

Didn't McGwire and Sosa have huge followings?

They still do. In fact there is a McGwire collectors thread that still is in circulation here.

McGwire fans denied any wrong doing. It wasn't until he came forward did they think slightly differently.

As for Sosa, the loyal fans still say, he's innocent until proven guilty. That may be true, but I say where there's smoke, there's fire.

And I'm sure the blind fans will say it never happened.

Gee, doesn't that sound familiar?

First off you are a week late on the thread! Second, what have I denied?

You've pretty much denied Bonds ever did anything wrong. I don't see how I'm late unless you've changed your tune, which isn't likely.

By the way, what type of rigorous workout did Bonds start that made his head nearly double in size?

I NEVER ONCE denied Bonds took steriods. Not once. My stance is there was no penalty in place for doing them, and most of the league was on them, including pitchers. It was a level playing field. And the point people miss is I really don't feel like they have that great a benefit for hitting a baseball. If you have ever stood in a batters box when someone is throwing 100 MPH, and 90 MPH curves, you KNOW steroids are not going to help you connect with that. Sure they have some benefit, but I think it is mostly the confidence gained mentally, and the fact that they help your muscles recover quickly so you can WORK out more. People can call it cheating all they want, but when you get to 30-35 years old, you need everything you can to keep up with the young guys. The steriod guys are VERY HARD workers that found something to help them work harder, thats it! People want to call it a shortcut, its not. You still must put in the work. You have no idea how dedicated these men were.

Will the Sammy Sosa fans (except me) please stand up?

I'm beginning to lean toward the idea that he did use steroids, but I'm still undecided in regards to the cork incident. It doesn't change my stance as a fan though.

They were dedicated to cheating the game of baseball... hurray for them. Give them their own Hall of Fame of Cheaters.
They did not cheat the game, they saved it! Blacksox almost killed the game, Landis saved it by using a tighter whiter ball. Babe Ruth took advantage and forever changed the game. 1994 strike almost killed the game, Bud Selig knew what was going on and allowed it. By doing so he let McGwire and Sosa save the game. Steriods helped save the game.

Your argument just plain sucks and lost any credibility on a couple of different points.

So Cobb and Rose didnt fall asleep during a game. Bid deal. Cobb was a dirty player, a racist, and killed a man.

Rose was a gambling addict who is banned for life (whether you agrre/disagree is irrelevant at the moment) for betting on games. And god knows what else hes done that we just dont know about.

And your seriously going to compare him putting in a hard days work to clemens, McGwire, and Bonds? REALLY????

While I kinda like Griffey, I always believed that he was bit on the lazy side. A lot of the hamstring and other injuries that always sidetracked him almost every season could have been prevented with stretching and conditioning, both of which he felt he never needed to do. He had a natural talent and didn't live up to his full potential IMO. But you still can't deny that he's a great player, well was, and will be a first ballot HOF'er. He could have been the best ever.

I love how you act like they are angels sent from heaven for cheating. lol They cheated for their OWN glory and for more money/contracts, not for the good of the game. Steroids are illegal and were illegal. Your point is stupid and always will be, no matter your response.

Your Babe Ruth point is ridiculous as well. How did he "take advantage" when every single other player played with the same baseballs. He didn't have his own ball pitched to him that was different from everyone else. He was a man amongst boys, like Bonds was when he was ON steroids. lol Ruth wasn't taking PEDs though, so he is the best player in history. Bonds off-steroids was Willie Mays (sans the defense), on steroids he was Ruth/Mays.
