Anybody ever heard of someone working on the base set? It's over 1,000 cards. I have my singles from it set aside, but don't know if anyone would ever want them. It is a cool looking set IMO, but what a pain to put together!! Team set, anyone?

I feel like someone on the bench was working on a master set, not sure how far they've gotten but it was farther than I ever would. I haven't seen any color for my guys in the set pop up in awhile. I always thought this would be a great box to rip now for fun but the price seems to remain high whenever I see any for sale considering the mostly crap autos in the set

I stopped after 65.
There was no way in hell it was ever happening.
I sold off all but 2.

65 is pretty dang impressive. The guy I'm thinking of was going for ALL colors too and got pretty far on green and purple. Blue would be an lifetime quest

I was fortunate to pull a Justin Verlander auto out of a box (or was it loose packs? Can't recall) Outside of Griffey and Jeter, one of the top autos of the set, though it's loaded with duds--and I have my share. (I know, there's a Ryan Zimmerman in there, but i'd still rather have Verlander.)

One of my local shops had a box a few years back for $65. I briefly considered it, then realized that was paying $1 per card, so I passed. This was long before I came here and found out how rare the blues were, so I could see me picking it up now, knowing what I know. Would love to get my hands on some boxes, but with how much trouble I have finding base singles of my players, I don't see it happening in my area anytime soon.

Interestingly (maybe), it's not the rarest 2006 blue parallel...that's probably this Topps:

Fielder06Toppsof7.jpg

actually a 1/1

It's true the 2006 topps blues are likely 1/1s they are crazy rare. Only one guy got a set redeemed. If you look on ebay right now there are no 2006 topps blues, and a few of the UD Fx ones.

A Granderson got by me in 07. That's the last time I've seen a blue FX up.

What's the deal with those 2006 Topps Blues? I've never heard of these, and I wasn't collecting in 2006 to hear about them then. Was it a redemption deal?

They were part of the HR Derby redemption. 50 players had 10 redemption cards each made. Ryan Howard ended up winning the HR derby that year, and only one out the 10 Howards got redeemed for a full set of the 2006 Topps blues. So any blue you find that year is going to be 7/10, and a 1/1 in reality.

Hi Guys

Guess i kept mine on the side long enough. When i broke the 20+ cases back in 2006 noticed this pile were less then the reds but
never listed them anywhere as they were priced too low as i usually like to sell at about 40-50% of beckett or so and couldnt let these go at
those prices. Now that people understand these are rarer then they appear figured id list them on my website justcommons.com
I have 117 of them listed. So i must of pulled about 6 or so per case minus any i didnt notice.
Even rarer then these are the last dozen or so base cards from the set as im not even sure they even exist. I remember i didnt pull any cards from about 1007-1025.
As wanted to make sets and wasnt able to make any sets back then as i tried very hard to pick up those missing cards yet noone had them.
When it comes to Upper Deck these inconsistencies happened on many of their products.
If interested in them please visit my website. The blues are priced at $1.50 and up.

At the time, I had a chance to pick up both of the Vizquel cards from the guy for $80 delivered. I balked, thinking others would show up and he sold them. I'd consider double that today...

Dont know why you would be having problem unless theres too much traffic on the registration page?
As ive noticed 5 people registered in last few minutes.
You are always welcome to order without registering if you continue to have problem.

Mr Mem if this helps you any, the blues were always an "extra card" in the pack they came in. I believe there were 4 cards per pack and every time I hit a blue, there were always 5 cards in the pack. I opened about 2 cases of the stuff.

There should've been one blue per box
