Gallagher was an ****** last time I checked. Pretty opinionated, rubs a lot of fans the wrong way. He gets points for not backing down from the host and Thorton. I thought it was funny that the 6 vs 1 melee turned into 7 vs 1. I'm sure that if Burrows punched a Bruin in front of the Bruins bench the same thing would have happened.
I don't mind joking around with fans from other teams. I have a lot of friends that are Leafs fans and I do make a point of poking fun at them whenever possible. I even hear a lot from non-Canucks fans back in vancouver. No problem with me.
I do hope that the next game is televised. Definitely entertaining.

I kind of figured he was a good representative for them. He did do a good job not backing down, even if his arguments didn't make any sense.

"He was just in a fight in the same period"
-"I just fought 7 guys before that"
-"I've had three fights in a period"

"Thornton has 40 pounds on him...wait, 30... wait, 20"
-"I've fought a guy that's 6-7, 270"

Maybe the Bruins would do the same thing, I personally don't think they'd pile on 6 on 1. If they did, I'd be equally as disgusted with them and would not just do the "well the other guys would have done the same thing." Even if the "in front of the bench" thing has any merit, why do guys from other places on the ice keep skating in to join the pile and throw punches. Were they afraid that 3 or 4 guys couldn't handle it?

Canuck fans have an incredible sense of entitlement after winning absolutely nothing.
They tried to burn the city down but didn't succeeded...too bad. The site of Canada's greatest hockey achievement too.
Please explain. I moved away from Van 11 years ago. The core group of Canuck fans that i know are pretty pessimistic. I've been watching since the early 80's when the 'nucks were cannon fodder for the Great One. When did league-wide opinion of the Canucks change? Up until I left I can't remember what kind of label the Canucks had. They were a so-so team with no playoff success. From the rioting pics and videos it seemed that a lot of the trash was pretty young 16-25? Must be part of the entitled generation.

Didn't Lapierre do a cannonball into the scrum?
Thorton said that we wasn't too upset about the LA Police beatdown. He took exception to a stick up high on him from Burrows. Not sure if that was before he punched him or after.

They seemed to be skating and jumping in from all directions.

I feel like Thornton would have taken on the entire team by himself if they asked him to.

You could see starting about halfway through the game the refs were diving in and stopping everything from escalating. I wonder what it will be like if these two meet again for the cup. Can they issue a warning like in baseball and anyone involved in anything gets tossed instantly?

No, I don't think that they have "warnings" like in baseball. The league tends to discourage threats of violence/retribution before a grudge match. I would guess that players with multiple suspensions during the season might have a short leash. Such that a game misconduct might lead to a suspension for a guy with a rap sheet. If the bruins-canucks meet again Vancouver officials need to do a better job. The Vancouver police did a piss poor job preventing the riot. The city just didn't want to spend money on beefing up the police prescence on the final night. I guess they learned nothing from the '94 riot.

I think the ratings for a re-match would be through the roof.

the Penguins placed Steve MacIntyre on waivers today.

Sucks for Big Mac, but he didn't really do anything to keep a spot. He needed to go out and force things, but never did. Guy is just too big and good fighter to find any takers unless he starts stuff.

Pens went from such a fun, tough, exciting, must watch team last year. To being a bore fest this year it seems. No passion, no rough stuff, no nothing. Even Cooke hasn't done anything. Pens getting much heat from local Pen faithful Bucco? or they just saying all injuries are to blame.

Mac has looked lost at there all season. he has only dressed for 10 games and can not find any takers when he tries to start fights. I really wish they had kept Godard. he at least had some actual hockey skill and would get some points.

I am very happy with how Cooke has transformed his game and his attitude. he is too much of a target from the refs to play his old style. he would be in the penalty box every other shift if he did. with Engelland, Asham and Adams in the lineup Cooke doesn't need to be the tough guy anymore.

the Pens started off very strong but you're right they really have become a bore fest in the last month. I think all the injuries have finally caught up with them but I think it will turn around after the All-Star break. Letang has been skating recently and could rejoin the team around the break. Crosby is joining the team on the trip to Washington tonight and will start skating on his own tomorrow which is a great sign.

GM Ray Shero definitely needs to make a few trades and attempt to get some more scorers in the lineup. when Letang returns the Pens will have 8-9 strong defensemen in Pittsburgh and WBS. so they can afford to move a couple of them. Brent Johnson has had a terrible season and is an UFA at season's end so I wouldn't be surprised to see Shero move him as well. there are plenty of teams that can use a solid backup goalie.

as for the fans I think the true fans understand that the core of the team is still very solid and that a few tweaks at the deadline will help. however you do have all the other fans who now that the Steelers season is over start to pay attention and think they know how to fix a team.

I'm glad Iggy is in. Glencross is having a good season.

I heard Selanne turned down the invite and told them to take Perry.

Flames also get Karri Ramo and a 5th rd pick in 2012. Habs get Bourque, Holland and a 2nd rd pick in '13.
Don't know about Holland or Ramo.
I heard Cammalleri was pulled from the ice. Bourque is still serving his suspension for his elbow to Backstrom, and was told when he showed to the rink during the 1st.

After what Cammalleri has done against the Penguins over the last few seasons I am very happy to see him go back to the Western Conference.
