Paul I like the white helmet idea. black autographs on white helmets always look great. plus it would be easier to display.

have fun at the game.

Okay, heading to Philly tomorrow for the home opener and I'm torn on something. How bout a little help here?

After every home game I go to, I hang out in the parking lot for autographs. This is my first game in quite a while and I'm nowhere near prepared. I'm going to buy a program, but I wanted to do something else for autographs. Here are the options I've thought of (if you have any better ones, please say them).

1. Buy a bag of blank pucks. If I remember right, I can get a dozen for around $20 at Sports Authority.

2. Buy a full sized white helmet and make it my mission to get it signed by the whole team this season.

3. I'll be getting new jerseys in the coming months and I have a Pronger, Briere, and Gagne from last season. Get one of these signed by whoever comes out. I have a handful of signed jerseys though so this is my least favorite option.

What do you guys think?

You don't like doing cards or photos? Can always print nice shots from net. Just me, but I don't like blank pucks or multi signed helmets. Flyers good signers?

Sens-Wild game was decent last night. Nice to see Z step up and take on Kassian. Chris Neil was beast.
Much better tilt than Pens-Panthers snoozer.
I expect Bruins to come out with a snarl tonight. Claude even calling them out for their passionless play. Seguin getting a shot on the first line tonight. He could have a huge season. People with Seguin hoards could cash in this year.

I don't see how anybody can stand the Nashville TV guys. When watching the free preview weeks on NHL ticket deal. Some teams have some bad TV. But Nashville always seemed to have the most boring, followed by St. Louis.

Have to respectfully disagree. Pete Weber and Terry Crisp are very entertaining and very beloved in Nashville. Crispy is one of the nicest guys in sports that I have met.

Maybe they were having an off night!

I will agree that the team they call can be a bit boring at times with their play in the offensive zone! ::facepalm::

I don't like doing cards for IPs unless it's a last resort. I did a lot of photos in the 09-10 season but there are only so many places I can hang them. I like getting the program signed at games then finishing it up at signings and the Carnival, but I did that in the 08-09 season.

They are usually pretty good signers. You can get from 4-8 after a game. Giroux and JVR used to stop after every game along with a random of the rest of the team.

Flyers win their home opener 5-4. Bryzgalov looked human tonight, but the defense got soft after leading 3-1 after the 1st period.

Had a fantastic time! Always do though. The comraderie is ridiculous in that building, no matter what bank pays to put their name on it.

Donated $10 to the fund for the families of team Lokomotiv, another $20 to Flyers charities for a "Mystery Puck" signed by a current player. I think the mystery is, where are the star players? I got Zac Rinaldo and saw a couple other pulls that weren't so great. I was on TV during the pre-game show! I hung out behind the set when they were live before making my way to my seat.

After the game kinda sucked. Programs were sold out. I waited until the end so I didn't have to carry it around with me. Fail. I didn't get a helmet before the game so I didn't have anything to get signed other than the jersey on my back. Waited over an hour until Briere came out to see if he would stop. He didn't. Matt Carle stopped and signed for us (around 25). Then Giroux stopped and he had Jagr in the passenger seat. I went to Jagr's side because Giroux got swamped by puck bunnies. Jagr wouldn't even hold what he was signing. You gave him a marker, he would stick his hand out the window, and just scribble on whatever you had. He signed around 5 autos then turned to Giroux and said, "Go." Damn near ran over my foot as I was near the back of the car.

Game was a win! :D The people around me were awesome!

After the game was a loss. :( But these things happen I guess. Debating if we're going to hang around after Saturday's game because I'll have my wife and kid with me.

there were two major news items to come out of the Penguins morning skate today...

1. Sidney Crosby has been cleared for full contact during practice. Crosby's doctors cleared him for contact after his check up yesterday afternoon. Sid wore a Black helmet in practice this morning.

2. the Penguins and F Chris Kunitz have agree to a 2 year contract extension. Kunitz would have been an unrestricted Free Agent after this season.

Saw MeiGray will be on hand tonight for the Caps _ Pens game. Teams will be wearing special patched jerseys for plane crash in Russia. Jerseys will be auctioned off. Nice chance for Pens fans to get a chance at MeiGray authenticated gamer. They don't work with them, only on rare special occasion like this where NHL has MeiGray come in and authenticate things. Be nice if they do some stuff with pucks from game.

Hi everybody,

We're proud to announce that MeiGray will be authenticating the jerseys for this special night, and hosting this auction on behalf of the Caps and Pens.

We congratulate both clubs for this charitable endeavor, and thank them for allowing MeiGray to donate its time and efforts towards such a worthy cause.

We will be starting the auction at puck drop on October 13, and will post a link and all relevant information next week.

I will be in Consol Energy Center and will be bringing the jerseys back to MGG in Branchburg, so anybody looking for descriptions of game use can call us next week.

Thanks, Barry

I'm not trying to start drama, but Asham is such a class act. Just skate to the penalty box and shut up. You really don't need to tell the world you had a 2 punch KO. It happened. Fine. Shut up and get off the ice. Done.

With that said, we played like crap until the OT period hit. We were outshot 41-19. Really? Yet we still managed to win? Voukoun saved us, and if it weren't for him, the Pens easily win this game with 5 or 6 goals. Ugly or not though, a win is a win.

I'm now 2 for 2 on Wild games this season. OT shoot out win tonight was awesome to see live in person. We had two Oilers fans sitting right behind us that were annoying as hell. Felt good to see them duck their heads and exit quietly at the end of the game.

yes sir I was there

it was a fun game despite the OT loss. I bought one of the $10 Love for Lokomotiv bracelets that the players wives and girlfriends were selling. I actually bought mine from Asham's wife.

the Game Used and Game Issued autographed jerseys from the game are up for auction now and can be found here...

Asham apologized for his "classless actions" after the game. he said "I was caught up in the moment and was trying to get my team energized".

if Asham hadn't grabbed Beagle by his jersey when he was going down Beagle's injury would have been a lot worse.

Maybe if BB wasn't such dope. He would have King in the line up. A non fighter like Beagle shouldn't tangle with Asham. I agree Bucco, Asham held him after he smoked him. Will see if the Caps nut up and do something about this next time. Nice to get some hate going on in the duckies and bunnies NHL of today.
HATE HATE HATE the shootout. It's about as dumb as it gets. Leave the game a tie. But all the pink hats like it and that is what NHL cares about. Cater to the non fans and have a stupid gimmick decide a game.

I HATE THE SHOOTOUT AS WELL.

in response to Ovechkin's postgame comments last night Asham was quoted today as saying "Ovie is a hypocrite. The rivalry is back."

Ovie has no room to talk about other players "classless acts".

I like what Brooks Laich said today...

Puck Daddy said:
Brooks Laich of the Washington Capitals, however, went there on Friday morning. When asked about potential head injuries for teammate Jay Beagle after getting KO'd by Arron Asham of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Laich said the following (via Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington):

"I really don't care about that awareness crap," Laich said. "To be honest, I'm sick of hearing all this talk about concussions and about the quiet room.

"This is what we love to do. Guys love to play, they love to compete, they want to be on the ice. How do you take that away from someone? We accept that there's going to be dangers when we play this game. We know that every time we get dressed.

"I don't know, sometimes it just feels like we're being babysat a little too much. We're grown men and we should have a say in what we want to do."

I disagree on the shootout. I'd rather the shootout than a tie. No game should EVER end in a tie, it's without a doubt the most anti-climactic ending a game can possibly have. Until overtime is altered to give a better chance for a winner (i.e. go to 3 on 3 at some point), then I'm fine with the shootout.

Great quote from Laich. Couldn't agree more. Also read where Tavares is pissed the NYI haven't dressed Gillies yet. Need more of the big name players to come out and protest all this crap that NHL is turning into.

Guess what, everybody is gonna want to see the next Pens-Caps game. I wonder why.
