the Penguins beat the Habs last night in OT on a Kris Letang goal when the ref failed to blow the whistle on a puck that Carey Price clearly had frozen against his leg pads. Price was understandably irate about the non-whistle and broke his stick over the goal.

late in the 3rd Period Letang took what looked to be an illegal hit to the head by Max Pacioretty. the elbow to Letang's head broke his nose. Letang went to the locker room and had his nose set by the team doctor and returned for the OT and scored the game winner.

the Penguins are 3-0-1 since Crosby's return.

the Capitals have fired Bruce Boudreau and hired former Caps captain Dale Hunter.

Hunter was the head coach of the OHL's London Knights.

Boudreau had a 201-88-40 record as the Capitals head coach.

it's been a tough day for coaches in the Southeast Division...

the Carolina Hurricanes have fired head coach Paul Maurice and named Kirk Muller the team's new head coach. Muller was coaching the Predators AHL affiliate in Milwaukee this season (his 1st as a head coach).

About freakin time BB got gassed in DC. I hope with Hunter now as coach they dress some muscle and play with some passion. Would be awesome if Wrecker got called up from Hershey. All Caps will sake with some more balls if he is in the line up.

the Pens defense played awful in the 2nd Period. hopefully Letang and Michalek aren't out of the lineup for too long.

it was nice to see the Pens get it back to 4-3 but they just couldn't tie it up.

yeah that was pretty fast.

Carlyle will probably get hired by the next team to fire their coach. he's too good of a coach to not be coaching in the NHL.

with Randy Carlyle being fired there are only 3 coaches still coaching their respective teams since the lockout.

Lindy Ruff (Buffalo), Barry Trotz (Nashville) and Mike Babcock (Detroit).

Looks pretty good to me. It basically looks the same as when the NHL had 21 teams in the 80's with the Smythe, Norris, Patrick and Adams divisions and then add in all the new NHL teams that have entered into the league ever since San Jose came in, back in the early 90's.. Only difference is, is Winnipeg used to be in the Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Los Angeles "Smythe Division" back then, but with San Jose, Anaheim and Phoenix now in the NHL it only makes sense of moving Winnipeg "out" of the old Smythe divison.
