Yesterday I read an article in USA Today about Albert Pujols and how he wants to be the white night and savior of Major League Baseball. The standard by which all is set in every aspect of the game on and off the field. The article talked about how Pujols feels players should wear their uniforms correctly, tucked in properly, pockets not pulled out, hats worn correctly, etc. Also talked about the animosity between the Cardinals and the Brewers in recent seasons about the Cardinals feeling the Brewers are showing disrespect to the game of baseball by untucking their jerseys on the field after a win. Pujols said something to the affect that you can do whatever you want in the clubhouse, but respect the field. This was said before and prompted Bill Hall to be a smart ass and sprint into the dugout after a win against the Cardinals, and up into the clubhouse and untuck his jersey.

Animosity has been brewing (no pun intended) over this issue for some time. And I don't think last night after the Home Run Derby is going to help matters. On the Cardinals home field, a Brewer won, then untucked his jersey at Busch. I feel that after all the talk from Pujols and the Cardinals organization about this issue that Prince would be a little bit more respectful and smart about this, especially when this whole All Star Break is being touted as Albert Pujols' Party or whatever.

I never really cared about the Brewers untucking their jerseys after a win until Hall ran into the clubhouse and pulled that. I felt he should have been drilled after that **** too.

So, I would love nothing more than to see Fatty Fielder get drilled for pulling this last night. I see it as being intentionally disrespectful.

i see nothing wrong with what he did. he didn't untuck his jersey while competing, he did it after. i don't think he was trying to be disrespectful, it's probably a habit. and until Selig says something needs to be done, he is free to do whatever he wants, imo.

Complete overreaction.

And wanting Fielder to be hit because he un-tucked his shirt is idiotic.

Someone just seems like a poor sport.

It's okay that he won the Derby, that's fine. Better him than someone from the AL in my opinion. I never expected Pujols to win it after playing in both games of a double header the day before, having a late flight in, and dealing with family and media all day. Dude had to be exhausted. So I didn't expect much from him. ESPECIALLY after seeing he didn't have Dave McKay throwing to him. Why was a Pirates coach even there in the first place, lol? And honestly I didn't even notice him do it last night. I found out about it on First Take this morning. I just am at the point where I don't like the untucking of the jerseys anymore on the field.

Give me a break. That is the dumbest "rivalry" I have read in a while.

YES, it IS!

At least it makes things interesting and it's something to talk about other than steroids or the Cubs, lol.

I'm sure after all the excitement from the festivities, being with family, the adrenaline surging through him, the exhaustion he had after winning three rounds of the Home Run Derby, he had time to remember to intentionally untuck his jersey ON the field to show up Albert Pujols and all of St. Louis.

My daughter is about done with her bottle of milk. I can loan it out to you when she's done if you'd like.

this is so dumb. Prince is not trying to be disrespectful.... .and whoever said that pujols is god and everyone should listen to him, he has his opinions on things and other players have other opinions. And your really calling Prince Fielder fat??i'm sure everyone in this thread knows and is friends with large people, and for you to make fun of them is pretty low and immature bud.

Haha, Fielder probably will get drilled the next time they play. And then he'll take first base and McGehee will drive him in.

But the shirt untucking thing isn't a disrespect for the game. People were doing it before this, but it started with the Brewers last year with Mike Cameron. He did it to honor his father who always untucked his shirt after a hard day's work. It then spread to all the outfielders, and this year to most of the team (Kendall and a lot of the pitchers do NOT do it).

So it's done out of respect, not disrespect. And it's after the game is over, so the business is done. It doesn't matter what they do.

Wow. The Cardinals and especially Albert Pujols are going to turn themselves into the biggest whinny team in baseball.

Prince untucking his shirt is not a sign of disrespect. It's a sign of solidarity between him and his teammates.

I am honestly hoping that the Cardinals blow this up, because in the end it's just going to make them look bad.

Sam, I am truly not trying to be a jerk or anything, but if Albert Pujols had never said anything about Brewers untucking their jerseys I'm sure you still would not care if they untucked their jerseys. I am just as big of a fan of my favorite teams as you are of yours, but this is ridiculous. You think the guy should get drilled for untucking his shirt because Pujols said he doesn't like it.

Gotta follow what El Hombre says. Oops, I can't call him El Hombre anymore either. He said last night that he hates that name, because it's disrespectful to Stan Musial. So it's The Machine from here on out. Pujols lays down the law!

At least you're honest. I actually did think that was cool. Very classy move by Pujols saying that Stan is THE Man and that it's disrespectful to call him the Man as well. Pujols is an absolutely amazing baseball player and he seems like a helluva person. I gained even more respect for him after he said that last night.

He impressed me last night too. His English was best I have ever heard it last night. Very entertaining interview, and you can tell just by the way he was talking about Fielder that he pays attention to EVERYONE in the big leagues closely.

Well if untucking your jersey is disrespectful, then you need to have Hombre go talk to one of the most respected Cardinals to ever play in the Lou. If you go back and watch the celebrity softball game, Mr. HOF'er Ozzie Smith was PLAYING the game with his jersey untucked! Uh oh, I bet they disown the Wizard now and strip him of not only his HOF enshrinement, BUT ALSO his ability to cut backflips.

Ozzie's in the Hall of Fame, so it's all gravy.

I didn't even notice that to be honest. I was too concerned with trying to check out Jenna Fischer and a few of the sottball chicks. Shawn Johnson's got the back flips covered now.
