How so?
Seller was told a week ago it was worth 3-4k
Buyer offers 500 and he took it
Karma aint a bitch, sellers a fracking moron!!!

True that, don't villify the buyer.Rest assured if someone on here bought that same card for $500 on eBay you know damn well he'd bragging on here what a "steal" he got and then auction it as soon as it arrived in the mail.

cardboardpimping is evan

op said it wasn't evan

I've never known Evan just to strait up lie to get a buy done, and it would surprise me if he did.

This isn't the first time this has happened.2-3 years ago some guy on here went to a show, bought the Hellickson true rookie Superfractor for the same amount the Hosmer went for, when he knew it was worth way more, and then came on here bragging what a "steal" he got and the whole damn board patted him on the back and congratulated him.A month or so later the same card was on eBay for $2000.Where was the outcry then?

Kind of echoing other comments here ....

If the seller of the card was told by the OP that the card was a 3-4K card, why would he settle for 500 from one dealer without going back to the OP? That is my question. Good for the dealer who got the buy. He made an offer and the seller took it. Like others said, if you were that dealer, you would do the same deal. No doubt about it.

The seller is a straight up fool for selling a card he was told was a 3-4K hit for 1/8 of that price. The dealer should not be raked over the coals for this deal.

Just my 2 cents.

I cant imagine anyone under the age of say 65 not being smart enough to check into the value of an item they are trying to sell. Obviously a dealer is going to buy with the intent of making money and if you are to lazy to inform yourself about what you are trying to sell then its your own fault.

That's not what happened. The member went to a show & the Hellickson was in a dealer's case for $500. He came here for advice after seeing it then went back and bought it the next day. And he never bragged about it.

I'm not sure why he would need to come back here for "advice" when it was obvious it was worth way more than that.

Did the dealer tell you that he only paid $500 for it? It seems to me like they were just trying to pull one over on you. Seems like too fantastical of a story to me. Echoing what others said, that this "new to the hobby" person would:

1) happen to pull the card in the first place
2) ask you about it first
3) receive this incredible advice that he struck gold and then completely ignore it
4) come back again the next week, sell the card to someone else, and then immediately go back to you to tell you that he really didn't care that he sold it for $2500 less than he could of
5) then you walk around, stopping by a dealer you don't even really care for, but he seems to think you're enough of a friend that he would show you this awesome steal he just got (that he still hasn't listed on ebay)

Not doubting the facts of your story, and can't attest to the motivations of either of the other two parties to the story, but when I lay it out it seems like it has to be a joke of some kind.

I didnt buy it and I dont lie, I actually know the guy who sold it and told him I would give him 2k for it if he brought it to the show. I am actually glad I didnt buy it now since hosmer stuff tanked. I am about 5 10, if you have been to a show in Georgia you have seen me. I will be in Chicago and the National, thanks, Evan CardBoardPimping

As I read the thread this quote interests me the most. So gilmore, is he a patch faker or not?
