Did pitchers before, but I want to see what you guys come up with. I will do a list from the early years to 1950 and then won from 1951-present. Lets see who you got!

I'm one of the bigger Cal Ripken fans you'll ever meet...no way does he even come close to top 5 hitters of all-time, even after 1951.

Kinda my thoughts as I read that. I would have put Ichiro in there before Ripken.

Hahahah oh man people actually think he was one of the TOP FIVE greatest hitters of all time?

He had a career BA barely over .300 for christ sakes! He is a poor mans version of Ichiro. Cobb should be the all time hit king, noone can touch his career BA ever!

My list: Ruth, Williams, Cobb, Gehrig, Hornsby.

Did you ever watch him hit? and his last few years brought his average down.

Yeah cool, being a compiler does NOT make you a top 5 hitter OF ALL TIME.

Please tell me how Pete Rose is a better player than the 5 mentioned on my list. Please share, I'm dying to hear it...

Personally I'll do 1950-present since they I don't think the 1920's guys could hit a pitch today and benefited on tiny stadiums (Ruth). and nobody on here has seen any of them even play so how can you say they're that good based on stats.

1. Barry Bonds (steroids or not he was still a great hitter)
2. Willie Mays
3. Hank Aaron
4. Albert Pujols
5. Manny Ramirez

Probably forgot some guys though.
