This just had to get bumped up the night I plan to purchase a high end PSA Baseball.

I am seriously second guessing getting the ball, unfortunately.

I guess the best answer to kj's question is to be educated. Don't buy an autograph without doing a little research first. You wouldn't want to buy a Topps Desert Storm card without first knowing how fake ones are made and how to spot them, the same should be true of autographs.
There we go. Know what you're buying and buy the auto not the slab. If you are buying an auto do your research and make sure it's legit. If you are not 100% confident it's not real then don't buy it, simple as that. Because well, companies do make mistakes, all of them.

This is very true, but its harder for some signatures than others. It just so happened to be an item that wasn't a full sig anyway, so its not a huge deal to let this one go.

just for some background information

who runs that autograph watch dog site?

You got me but all I know is that it's up to Brian whether or not he wants to take legal action against the web site owner.

[email protected], this is their email address.

i am not asking for that reason

I just want to know the credentials of the guy making the claims. That is an important piece of this puzzle.

One person's opinion against another's about the authenticity of an auto is hardly a legal matter. When you release a product, you accept that people can and will scrutinize is... ESPECIALLY in the case of authenticating auto's, which is a matter of opinion, not fact.

Who knows, he may be dead on. If so he likly forged and sold the autos to bg. Doesn't seem like Stephen Koschal has a very good reputation.

Well, if that's the case, looks like Brian may not need to sue him as the long arm of the law may get him before Brian does.

If it is true that he was at one time a forger I would take his word over most non trained eyes. Its like saying I don't trust a drug dealer noticing fake drugs cause he sells drugs. If anything a forger would examine legit examples more then most (most at jsa psa also it seems), not to mention most of his posts on that site are from people who email him, at least that what he says. The only thing I don't like is every post is like " I was contacted by a person" or "Presidential autograph experts" but never mentions who and has no links on where to get what would be in his eyes proper authentication.

Unfortunately it may limit your collection but if you want 100% authentic autographs, go to the card shows and get the players you want in person.
