You say it's a step backwards, but by that logic, base rookie cards should have gone away once SP rookies came out, and one-color swatch cards should have gone away once multicolored patch cards were released, and so on and so on. If there's a market for something, and clearly there's a market for this, then how is it a step backwards? Maybe cardboard should've been abolished when the first acetates were made? It's not like GU is going away completely because event used is becoming a tour de force or anything.

I think a lot of people's point in here is that its not only "event used" but they are crappy replicas to boot.

If Leaf used actual game worn uniforms wouldn't the cost of boxes be even more?I read a lot of complaints here seemingly all the time about Topps having too many expensive products.Seems like whatever route Leaf tries to go they just can't please everyone no matter how hard they try.If they put actual game worn uniforms into the product then the cards would be "too expensive".

Again, a larger point here is that this is already a relatively expensive product, and purported by Leaf to be "high-end"

Crappy replicas does not = "high end"

Yeah, if it's already gonna be expensive, make it worth it. Best high end I ever busted was 2007 UD Premier. I didn't make any profit on it but I didn't lose my rear end either. I got some damn cool cards of some damn good players. My opinion is if you make high end, make it high end.

Well one color swatches versus patches aren't much of a match IMO since they coexisted quite nicely. And base rookies are still appealing. Can you imagine having to pay high dollar for every rookie card simply because it's mega sp'd or auto'd? I'd go broke. Most of us would. But they can coexist with higher end stuff. The concept of manufactured patches or event worn just seems nothing more than a mockery of GU. And it's certainly becoming more widespread due to topps' cryptic wording on the backs. My point is there isn't much of a reason for it to exist.

But, to be honest, I even enjoyed the stuff we've seen from futures games and minor league uniforms. I have some nice minor league patch cards and I love them. I'd rather have something used in a game instead of a jersey the guy wore for three seconds at an event. Are they appealing and cheap? Yes. But I just think if you're trying to put a product with your name on it, do good by it.

"Here, put this on for 3 seconds so we can use it on a card."

Why even bother.

I think football players put on like 10 layers of jerseys at once!

How XXXXing stupid is that. Makes me hate event/player worn even more if that's truly how it's done. How completely meaningless and pathetic.

I agree. At that point, you might as well not do it at all and just put patches in the cards from jerseys that the player never wore. Call it team colors or something. Either way, it's useless.

That's Mark Ingram wearing 1 jersey before he got in shape his rookie season.

And he's wearing #80 , a number always worn by a WR, not RB like Ingram.Wonder how many Ingram patch cards have a number patch RB's don't even wear?

Why stop here just go to ebay buy 100 team patches and just stitch them to 1 jersey. Throw the shirt over the player's shoulder for 2 seconds and now you can flood the market with event used fake patches from replica jerseys!

Reminds me of the jersey swatch t-shirt. Now THAT was an awesome item and video. Sent checklist and empty cards and everything. Only like $1 a card. So worth it.

This has been done for 12-13 years. I like how everybody is shocked that this happens. I don't see the big deal. Its not like these companies are trying to pass them off as Game Worn. Never have. Neither is Leaf.

The athlete wore these pieces, its the same as a game used card, even if it wasn't game used. I love how the companies get a pass for doing this in football, but don't you dare do it in baseball! AHHHH!!!

I don't care if they did it in football -- If this was a football product I wouldn't waste my money on it.
I care because this is a high priced high end baseball prospect set
If I am paying big $$ for a box of auto prospects with jersey/patch included it better be game used

it's lame and nothing but what seems like a money grab product with these cheap looking event worn jersey/patches
it's a poor excuse of a product for someone who wants to be innovative
